Breathing Tic

My ds seems to take deep breaths, particularly in the evenings. It is not labored as when you have been exercising but almost as if he is trying to take a breath like an asthmatic. It is not non stop but frequently for a couple of minutes. He doesn't seem to be in pain, I hear no wheezing so I am not concerned with asthma. Could this be a tic?

My son does the same thing every once in a while. He actually told me that once he does it one time he can't stop just like his other tics. He takes deep breaths and then holds it and then lets the air out within 10 seconds. I also though ashma right away but he confirmed it was one of those things he can't stop once he starts.

I do this myself. I must say out of all my tics this is by far the worst one. Sometimes I feel like im not gonna be able to get a full breath and it just keeps going on for few minutes at a time and then finally i can get a nice full breath.
