Seriously, I hope that I am just being crazy right now. Last night my dd for the first time started with she didn't want to sleep alone.. it was manageable but she was crying about it. Today she has been out of her head in tantrum going on 2 hours now. She is currently on antibiotics that she just started the other day for strep. She gets strep fairly often but this is the very first time I am starting to wonder.... I am staring to see a little of my ds in her right now. I hope she is just being a moody 5 year old and that I am being crazy... but curious if it is common for siblings.

Ok, I just stepped back a little and decided she is just being a 5 year old and possibly just learned a little from my ds. I think this is all just so fresh on my mind that I am seeing it everywhere.

Hi Erica-

I am with you in that "crazy" right now.

My older (non pandas) daughter has been having anxiety causing stomach aches since she had her bout with strep last February. I had been chalking up to stress from sister, but, I am having her take Cunningham's test next week, to hopefully rule out pandas. I know that after what we have been through the last 8 months has left me not thinking completely clearly.

There are, I think, at least three families on the forum with multiple pandas children. I know of two families in my neighborhood with multiple pandas children as well. There is definately a genetic component to this.

I try to look at behavioral trends over a week- so step back and give yourself a little time to observe your daughter.....

Both my girls have PANDAS.

I agree that I would not freak at this point but keep a close watch on her. It's hard to tell sometimes the difference between normal kid stuff and something more. HUGS!

Both our kids have PANDAS. Daughter has had it for about 8 years...son has had it for about 6 months, and he has been the hardest hit. It has affected them differently. Daughter's Cunningham test showed cam score of 187, in the PANDAS range. Son's is 197, more in the SC range, but overlaps into PANDAS...he has more severe tics. We thought he would not get this, but did after strep back in March. Dr's records showed he had never tested positive for strep until then. There is definitely a genetic predisposition for this, coming from me and my father's side.

Glad to see that I am not the only one wondering about this. My 5 yo def has PANDAS and I strongly suspect that my 19 mo has it as well. But - get this...I think that both of my neices have it too! They have both had rapid onset OCD or separation anxiety lasting 3-6 months. I didn't know about PANDAS at the time, but the behaviors baffled my SIL. Now looking back I think that it was PANDAS. I mean, what else would it be? Not to mention, they were def exposed to strep through my 5 yo who had untreated strep at the time (this was all pre-dx). So, there must be a strong genetic link.

Here is a question I have been pondering! Does anyone think that PANDAS is worse in boys than girls? It seems like my neices behaviors were less aggressive/rage-like than my son's. Both of my boys have serious meltdowns and my 5 yo has serious rage.

Any thoughts?

In my recent meeting with Dr. Latimer she did say it seems boys are hit harder. She speculated that estrogen may be protective.

I wondered if boys' behaviors, being inherently more aggressive and outward, whereas girls are more likely to go inward, aren't just harder for the people around them.
