kim Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Just wondering if anyone's child has one of these. My youngest son has one that is not quite as pronounced as the 4th image in the top row (it actually looks more like the 3rd image), but the same location as the 4th. http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&...G=Search+Images
patty Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Hi Kim, My son had a similar bite and i suspected it to be a spider bite but not sure. And it was quite small. Anyways i cleaned it with peroxcide and used calendula and it went away in a few days. I hope your son is ok. As i know some people react to it badly. Pat
Chemar Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 I dont think this refers to an actual spider bite, but rather the description used for hemangioma (did i spell that correctly?) that has the appearance of a spider?? If I understand what a spider nevus is correctly, then no, havent noticed any on my kids, Kim but I do have some spider veins (varicose) inherited from my mom. all are blue tho
kim Posted October 10, 2008 Author Report Posted October 10, 2008 Thanks for the replies Patty and Chemar. My Mom was asking what the mark was under youngest son's eye. I told her it had been there forever. She acted like I should have it checked. I got on good old google and thought, "yep, that's it." It said something like 10 to 15% of kids get these. Sometimes they just disappear. Patty, very easy to confuse that name with an actual spider bite, but Cheri had it right, as in more of a tiny hemangioma. Cheri, I have a few of those little spider veins on the backs of my legs (behind the knee) too. I think we get those along with our more mature beauty don't you, lol?
