I am trying to get a B12 supplement at 500mg per day. Today I bought myself a Natures own B12 supplement.

When I got home I realized it says 500 MCG instead of 500 MG like I thought.

What is the difference and how many of the 500mcg pills do I have to take to get to my wanted level of 500mg?????

Thanks!!!

By the way...my daughter is still TIC free and we are living LARGE!!!!!!!!!!!! over here. I am so happy I feel as though I could explode!

My heart palpatations are gone as well! I feel great and I am looking more like myself again! Actually eating...LOTS

I feel I will get my weight back on within the next 2 weeks at this rate!!!

I hope everyone is doing well. And GOD BLESS to all of you!!!!!!!!

It's great to hear about your daughter! :wub:

About the B12, most people take very little B12 from supplements, so it will probably be difficult to find tablets in higher potency.

mg=milligram

= 1000th of a gram

= 0.001 grams

mcg = µg

= millionth of a gram

= tenth of a milligram (I think)

= 0.0001 grams

If she needs 500mg, then she will obtain this from ten 500µg (mcg) tablets/capsules.

If you're sure it's supposed to be 500mg? Everything I've read seems to suggest nothing higher than 200mg.

Solgar do chewable 1000µg 'nuggets' (suitable for vegans):

I'm pretty sure 1000 mcg. is the highest you might see in a oral form of B12. Anything more would be as an injectable or prescription I think. Our injectable is 25 mg., I doubt you will find more than that in oral form. Some sources say that very little is absorbed in oral form, sublingual may be a little better. Where did you get advice on 500 miligrams?

I've checked...1000mcg=1mg. You'd need 1000 500mcg tablets to = 500mg. 500mg does seem excessive, though. The RDA is @ 2.4 mcg/day. (for an adult) There is, however, no known B12 toxicity. Your body should simply excrete the excess.
