natural calm question

I want to try to decrease the number of pills I give my son and want to try Natural Calm. My son is 8 and about 89 pounds. For those of you who are familar with Natural Calm, would you use the Kids Calm or Natural Calm. Also, any flavor recommendations? Thanks - Deanna

I would think it would be good to try the Kid's Calm first, but someone who has experience with it may have other recommendations

My husband has tried the (naturally) flavored ones, but says he likes the original best. I tried them all as well and agree. It has a hint of lemon taste, but not as overpowering as the lemon flavored one, Also, the flavored ones fizz in a different way and leave a froth on top, which the Original does not do...it fizzes, but no froth.

My husband finds both digestive and neuromuscular benefits from it, and also sleeps better with it(he also has TS)

My son noticed a calming and good digestive effect, but he prefers the effect of his regular magnesium supp on his tics and sleep

Hi,

Our son is 8 and only 50+ pounds and we have him Kids Calm. It only comes in one flavor, lemon and he likes it. It also has some C in it. I give him a large 1/2 teaspoon in hot water with a ice cube in it. He actually asks for it every night! I believe in the product, I take the lemon rasberry regular calm and find it helps me sleep a little better.

I just received my Kid's Calm (natural orange) and have a question on the dose. My son currently takes 300mg. Magnesium Chelate. He weighs 89# and is 8 years old. I am confused on the supplement facts because it states that 1/2 t. has 85mg. Magnesium citrate and then for Vitamin C it has 200mg (as magnesium ascorbate). So does that mean he would be gettin 285mg. magnesium in a

1/2 t. or just 85mg? I don't understand the Vitamin C as magnesium ascorbate. I am assuming that I should keep him on a similar dose to what he has been taking. The only reason I am changing is to try to decrease his number of pills.

Thanks! Deanna

Hi Deanna,

My son takes the Natural Calm (no flavoring) amount pre serving... 3 teaspoon is 615mg. So if I want to give him one teaspoon it's only 205mg. So if the kids calm says 85mg per 1/2 teaspoon, that should be what it is for every 1/2 teaspoon. My son is 13 and only 90 pounds he does great on the 615mg of mag. In fact he still tested low in magnesium. Just wanted you to know what my son takes since our boys are very close in weight.

I hope you all have good results with the Natural calm.

C.P.

probably the best person to help you understand the exact dosage in compounded substances like natural calm would be mrs doubtfyre, but she only checks in here on occasion

if you would like to ask her on the Vitamins etc Forum of NeuroTalk she checks in there quite often

here is the link
