patty
Right beneath my son's collar bone, he has two oval shape dots, one on left & right side that looks like a stretch mark, because the skin tone is a couple of shades lighter. I read that one of the signs of zinc deficiency is stretch marks. Anyone with zinc deficiency with stretch marks? Also, what are other symptoms of zinc deficiency? kim
I know slow wound healing, is another sign, and I believe stunted growth, however, the growth part, sure didn't apply to my boys. One had a zinc level of 76 prior to supplements, and the other was 90, but he was taking Bonnie's vits. at the time the draw was done.
orthomolecular
yes, stretch marks are a sign of a zinc deficiency. I had stretch marks as a teen even though my weight did not change during that period. I still use Zinc Status every so often to check my zinc levels, even though I supplement everyday. You would be surprised how many people just assume that supplementing some zinc will eliminate their zinc deficiency. It doesn't happen so easily. I try to proactive about low zinc levels because with low levels I could come down with a cold or the flu and then regret not making sure I took enough zinc. But the stretch marks are one sign of a zinc deficiency.
tarabeara
Vitamin C is very important in elasticity of the skin, as well as the blood vessels, etc. Maybe he needs more vitamin C. Vitamin E rich foods are important, too, as are plenty of water and essential fatty acids (EFA), for the skin.
