I bought this book and was a little dissapointed. It contains mostly stuff gathered from Internet sites. I am not saying not to buy it, but I just felt a little ripped off.

dear Mom

i had not heard of this book before today, but must honestly say that I would be leery of it based on the "hype" I read on that link you provided.

Dealing with Tourette tics is, as we can all attest to, a complex, trial by error and highly individualised issue, and it is certainly not a "one treatment fits all" situation where anyone can guarantee that if you follow "their" method...all will be well

almost $40 for an eBook is also, IMHO, somewhat steep!!!!

If you want a book on the subject, maybe consider the one that Sheila Rogers has written after careful research and interviews and input from professionals and parents etc etc

It is written with integrity and not hype...and is also a lot less pricey!

All,

America is land of opportunities.

We all try to gain a few dollars here and there.

There is a fine line drawn where it becomes downright exploitative.

The website that was posted and I have gone to visit is full of wordings that

pull your gut into buying this book.

He says he cares about all children that have tics or TS..then besides buy my expensive book now..

also put in free links where we as a consumer can do research..

He can talk about free forums such as latitudes.org..

Then after all that you can buy the book..at a reasonable price..

I personally had paid Sheila for consulting over the phone. No time she forces me to call her.

Her explanations are plain and simple. No marketing attached to it.

Beware!!

There is no one solution that will solve you children's tics.

Most children will fall into one categories or another.

There is no single category where if you do this then your children's tics will never come back..

The guy makes me sick. I could write 60 pages myself in a few days but the difference would be one that I know that it would be an incomplete text, two it would be information I gathered using the internet as well as what we used with our son based upon that information and three it would still not be a cure all never mind that I wouldn't sell it as snake oil playing on the pain and guilt of sick worried parents.

This is one of the best websites to garner information from in terms of parents discussing tests, diets, supplements, detoxing, accupunture, etc.. and a good spring board to doctors, DAN websites, and follow up to articles based upon medical research mentioned here.

I would recommend spending some of those sleepless nights that parents have reading this website and Shelia's book as well to build up information to start a plan of action with.

Thanks for the replies, I'm glad you all were honest with me. I had that feeling that it was probably a waste of money and time.

I bought this book and saw this thread and wanted to reply.

IMO- A waste of money, time and emotions. All of what is included in the book are pages, excerpts, and stories from different sources already attainable from internet searches. Again IMO, poorly done with typos, inconsistencies, poor editing. Can't imagination how he got by without any copyright infringement inquiries.

However, the theme of the "book" is similiar to what is discussed here. Main points are:

1) Magnesium supplements

2) Diet Modification (elimination of diary, wheat, sugar, artificial colors etc..)

3) Candida Yeast

I guess I want to give the guy the benefit of the doubt in that although most of the information in the 'book" is already contained in various sources on the internet, he did the work and compiled it all for people who are less research and internet savy. The whole hook of cure and strong marketing language is a bit unfair IMO for those who are already emotionally vulnerable from dealing with their childs condition.
