Can someone please remind me of some remedies for severe nausea? My dd is 10 (70lbs). Is anyone taking Ginger capsules or products?

Papaya tabs are my son's favorite. In vitamin stores or organic groceries they have nux vomica (homeopathic little sweet balls you put under tongue) which my son really likes as well. He was prescribe a fizzy vitamin C powder once but really did not like it. With a flare-up these help a little but he generally has to go on the BART diet (bananas, applesauce, rice, toast) since not much helps the nausea. Good luck!

When I had a bout with bad nausea, I tried that chewy ginger candy -

I don't care for ginger, but these are somewhat sweet, flavored with apple-but quite ginger-y

found in candy section at grocery store.

Helped- kept my mind off it somewhat.

It was starting Doxy that made me very nausea- taking it in the middle of a meal helped the most.

They make wrtistbands that use accupressure to treat nasuea - sea-band is one brand name.

Here is a another brand that gives clinical studies regarding these: http://www.biobands.com/nausea.htm

I have never tried them but I picked some up on clearance a couple of years ago from our gracery store and your post just reminded me that I had them. If you are having trouble finding them and are interested in trying them - pm me - I would be happy to send the ones that I have - they are seaband - children's size.

My daughter's GI/GERD issues have been really bad since stopping antibiotics the end of September- becoming worse as time went on. She was taken off of antibiotics due to increased liver functions, elevated sed rate, and positive labs indicitive of lupus (Lyme induced or DILE). Well, her stepbrother came home from college with bronchitis on the 26th and her physical symptoms increased, and then I started her back on Zith on Saturday, and now her symptoms are severe. She's been on the couch since Saturday. Her stools are fine and I ran numerous stool tests (thru Quest) which are all normal. Waiting to hear from the doctor b4 I stop the zithromax. Of course, she can't go on the way things were off antibiotics either.

Thank you for all your suggestions!

She may need IV abx. This is the point at which we have switched to IV abx. I'm PM'ing you.

Purchased the nux vomica - how many do you use? how often?

Also bought Country Life Papaya enzymes and some Nature's Way Charcoal. See if something helps here.

Tummy Tonic from Oregon's Wild Harvest brand. Half dropperful each time symptoms appear. They also have organic fennel seed for the same purpose for those kids who will eat it.

Nux vomica use the 6X dose 5 pills under tongue, let disslove. To prime use this dosage every 15 mins for the first hour, every hour next two hours and then 3X/day. If she is very emotional along with the nausea then use a 30X potency and same dosing.

Not so sure on IV abx. All her symptoms and labs are pointing towards inflammation. If you choose IV abx then please get the abx that are also antiinflammatory. Any LLMD will understand theres inflam looking at the labs and the symptoms you describe. Liposomal Artimisin is helpful for inflam but plain old Motrin might work in some kids.

Her nausea/stomach queasiness/cramping symptoms are basically 24/7. And white as a ghost!

The lady at the store recommended the 30X since daughter symptoms are chronic. Do you think I should begin with the 6X? It's easy to switch and/or return at Whole Fields. She is not emotional right now (yeah to that).

She has been on Prevacid 15mg now for 25 days - don't see it touching it (maybe a smidgen). I worry about the Prevacid since I read it can increase your chances of c-diff.

I got her to run to the local Rite Aid tonight with me. She wouldn't leave the house since Saturday. I had this problem two years ago which morphed into her not being able to leave the house for 3 months. I won't let that happen again! Her OCD is much better now though.

Homeopathically speaking 6X is stronger than 30X. (I am also a practising homeopath as is my mom so kinda grew up with it- dunno if you knew). Anyways basic rules are the worse the condition the lower the potency and the higher the mental/emotional symptoms, the higher the potency. So if she is not emotional do the 6X like I outlined earlier. Wish you lived closer and I could come see your DD. I feel sad she and you are going thru this.

I also wish I could get the bigger picture, her history in depth. I feel you are missing something important. I feel you have been trying to help her symptoms to give her comfort and maybe in that something nutritionally may have been missed. Sometimes things like hydration level can make a difference.

Raw goats milk would be a great option to try for GI issues. I just ordered mine thru a friend in PA- they can't ship raw milk to NJ. Need to work on DS and his growth and lack of appetite. keeping my fingers crossed. DS goes into motor tics within a half hour of consuming dairy- cows milk. Its nuts. There is no dairy allergy just sensitivity.

Then there was another patient I had and was doing nutrition analysis and she actually got very sick and tons of GI issues after starting fish oil supplements! Yikes! Anyways ART pointed towards her liver and some research later turned out this child had a deficiency with being able to digest and absorb fat properly and even digesting good fats themselves are an issue. It could one of two or both issues- low enzymes and / or low Taurine. Low Taurine . You can research more to se if it fits your Dd.

Another aspect would be is your DD taking a multivitamin with iron? or too much iron in her diet? This can cause antibiotic resistance. In my practice I've had a couple cases where the child has low Ferritin and parents were supplementing with iron in am attempt to normalize the labs and help their child. long story.

I haven't started them so I will switch to the 6X.

Something's been haywire since early September. We went to the shore for two days and she's been battling physical symptoms ever since, worsening as time goes on.

The multi-vitamin we use is a cheapie from Trader Jo's- I don't think there is iron in it. I keep meaning to purchase a better brand. Now waiting to do the KPU urine test first.

I will google low Taurine. It wouldn't suprise me if dd isn't able to absorb fats properly. I thought about that before.

We had the same severe nausea/ GI issues before that went completely away for 9 months while on lyme treatment. Right now she is NOT on any antibiotics - since the end of September. She also now has significant leg pain, and all over joint pain at times as well.

Some new labs are trickling in:

Total Cholesterol 90 L (ref 125-170)

HDL Cholesterol 23 L (ref 37-75)

Triglycerides 227 H (38-135) A month ago it was 82

Sed rate: 94 H (ref <20)

Iron, Total 25 L (ref 27-164)

Iron Binding Capacity 263 L (ref 271-448)

Ferritin is normal

AST 40 H (down from triple digits in September)

ALT 31 H (" ")

RBC, Hemoglobulin, Hematocrit- Low

Globulin- High

Albumin/Globulin Ratio- Low

DNASE B- 298 normal *came down gradually from 663 in September

In January & May Sed Rate was 2. In August it was 14. In November it was 96, then 92. In December it was 94.

What supplement/products will give FAST relief of severe nausea, even if temporary? My daughter will not leave the house again (this happened 2 yrs ago). I am working on her fear of vomiting while in a car, but, this is definitely more of a physical nature then a fear. I'm rewarding her each day for a short ride in the afternoon to a local store 5-10 minutes away. She cannot accomplish this in the morning.

We need to take a train to see Dr. B soon and I'm worried she will not be able to go through with it.

Do any of the above products work instantly? Any other suggestions?

I'm so sorry things are going down hill like this. Our issues never got this bad, so I don't have any great advice. The SeaBands wrist bands really helped my when I had morning sickness. They work instantly and are only a few dollars - you can get them at any pharmacy. that might help a little. A few saltines in bed before DD gets up might help. Or warm ginger ale.

For car rides, i sometimes need to keep the window cracked. For the train ride, maybe one of those hand held mini-fans to keep air circulating? I know these are lame, but maybe they'll help take the edge off or at least make DD feel like she has a few options?
