Tamistwins Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 (edited) For those of you who have been following my desperate posts from time to time and decline in my children's behaviors even after 2 IVIG's and a handful of different antibiotics well... to my disbelief my daughter has tested positive on igenex iGM results. A positive result suggests exposure to B burgdorferi. **31kDa + **41 kDa + **83-93 kDa + Igenex IGG negative 30 kDa + **39 kDa IND **41 kDa ++ Can anyone explain these numbers? co-infections negative My sons results were all negative but he will be treated for bartonella he will be taking azithromycin, omnicef, rimfampin, and 8 days tindanax I hope I got those right. My daughter will be put on same meds but hasn't seen Dr. J we will have to wait till MAY. only + is for 41 and 58 ++ Thanks for any input, Tami Edited February 24, 2011 by Tamistwins
LNN Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 These links might help you with the results Explaining Western Blot tests: http://flash.lymenet...TML/022767.html WB for Lyme: http://www.anapsid.org/lyme/wb.html Understanding the WB: http://www.lymenet.d...sts/brenner.htm This link talks about both lyme and bartonella http://www.benbrew.com/lb/lb.html (the author - not a doctor- is pro antiobiotics and not supportive of "naturals" - I mean no disrespect to anyone who feels otherwise. I only post the link because, unlike many blogs, this one has a lot of citations and a good "recommended reading" list at the end. It took me a long time to make room in my head for lyme, even tho we live in CT (where 90% of the deer tics carry lyme). We had such a strong correlation of symptoms to strep that I thought no way could it be anything but Pandas. I have no idea if I'm right, but what I've come to believe is that the tick bite came first, then a few months later, the first strep infection came and put my son's immune system over the edge. I think it might've been a 1-2 punch that made things so bad and also so hard to unravel. When we first got the lyme/bartonella dx, I was crushed. It was just too much. But after starting a different abx combo and a few supplements to support his body, he's doing so much better - not perfect (yet) but this was the breakthrough we'd been praying for. So try to look at it as a positive. It's a good next step... Best of luck! Laura
Tamistwins Posted February 25, 2011 Author Report Posted February 25, 2011 Thank you for the links as I haven't researched lyme. Dr. J does not feel its lyme and not pandas for us. Its both. My children have many documented strep after strep infections that have wreaked havoc on their immune system. Then a bad infection strep that wouldn't go away after10 days antibiotics and my son began banging his head on hard objects. He doesnt show a pos itive lyme but we are treating as such.
Ozimum Posted February 26, 2011 Report Posted February 26, 2011 Hi Tami, Very best wishes for this next stage - I'm hoping it involves a whole lot of healing - for your twins and you! Big hugs!

But my ds4 diagnosed Pandas initially then to my surprise and Dr. B's he tested positive at Igenex for Lyme. Basically, if you have positive 31 that's Lyme specific, so he definetly has it AND he's had it for at least one year. 41 is another band that indicates a definete LD. You may want to post on the Lyme board and you'll get a lot more experienced mom's giving you advice. darlene

That's my understanding. I also was told band 31 means it's been at least 6 months, more likely a year or longer. Edited February 27, 2011 by philamom
eljomom Posted February 27, 2011 Report Posted February 27, 2011 Band 41 is NOT Lyme specific, from what I have been told. A huge portion of the normal (uninfected) population will test positive for it. Also, unless you do the Band 31 confirmation test on Igenex, I would not make Band 31 be the ONLY reason to believe Lyme. My daughter's Band 31 was ++ and ended up being negative on confirmation test.
Wilma Jenks Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 When I told Dr. K, that my child had a possitive band 41,on a blood test, he said it was unlikely that it was Lymes. We just did the Igenex test yesterday. Can't wait 2 c what it says.
