Going Wheat Free

Familyof5

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've been experimenting with Gluten/Wheat Free with one of my ticcy children. It seems her vocal tics are off the charts lately and just wondering if anyone has experienced a herx reaction when/if they tried gluten free with their kids. Any response either yes or no would be appreciated. Thanks.

When we went wheat free with our ds his tics went haywire for a week or two and then mellowed, I am convinced it was due to his body not getting what it was "craving". We have not seen it with any other eliminations only wheat...which was the first elimination and seems to be the biggest intolerance for him.

Well, I will be able to let you know in a few weeks....our Holistic Pediatrician conducted a battery of tests (stool, blood and urine)--IGE testing....and it came back he has intestinal inflammation - she mentioned a leaky gut as well...I am so blown out of the water at the test results...my son seems to be in "bad" health - has allergies and sensitivites to things that I would not have guessed - things I have been feeding him thinking they were healthy for him. So she suggested a total diet overhaul - which means - NO GLUTEN...after reading about the gluten free lifestyle. I am very intimitated - gluten is in a whole buncha stuff!!!

I dont even know where to start in cleaning out my pantry, buying gluten free staples etc and preparing gluten free meals - which means you have to essentially cook from scratch - and the worst part....I am such a bad cook! - ugh....
