Not sure if this an OCD thing or a PANDAS thing. My daughter has been complaining of light hurting her eyes for the past few days. I don't know what to think about this. Has anyone had this problem?

Oh, yes. This is a symptom that shows up when we are in the worst of flares.

Oh yes! We had this a lot last summer during an exacerbation. Though, I DO think she has always been sensitive to the light.

But I know it was really awful during the PANDAS axacerbation. We did buy her some sunglasses and had, some, luck getting her to wear them.

I get that a lot and I just found out it's a Lyme symptom. Probably overlaps with PANDAS too, just something to keep in mind.

As others have said, very likely not OCD, but a real physical symptom. I am also very sensitive to light, I definitely have lyme and may or may not have PANDAS. For me, the worst are fluorescent lights and then after that sunlight. Just want to warn you that not all light is the same, and you may want to pay some attention to what lights your daughter is exposed to and what types are generating her complaints or even behaviours without her specifically complaining. The fluorescent lights are very common as tube lights in many public buildings (stores, schools, doctor's offices, offices, and so on), but also come in the form of compact fluorescent lights to be used in regular lamps. These compact fluorescent lights are often sold as "low energy" bulbs. If you do determine that fluorescent lights are a significant culprit, also be aware that the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 is going to make incandescant lights bulbs illegal to purchase (but not illegal to use) in about 14 months, meaning that fluorescent lights will be much more widespread in the future.

yes, light sensitivity in my 2yo but not my 6yo. i always thought it was from chiari malformation, but then again I have witnessed a pattern of chiari and pandas flaring together so who knows.

mati's mom, thanks ya got me wondering about lyme again!:lol: Actually, I just told our DAN the other day that I want to get all of us tested, so it worked!
