Besides the tried and true Bentonite and charcoal, has anyone used any of these?

- Liver flush

- Hulda Clark liver cleanse

- Castor Oil packs

- Coffe enemas

I am going to try some of the gentler methods on myself before I try with the kids... fun!

This is a very interesting article regarding detox and lyme treatment. It is a little out there but it kind of made sense to me and goes along with everything Dr. Klingherdt says about lyme disease. I often ask myself why our kids have so much trouble recovering from lyme disease while really most people get by with a short course of antibiotics and recover just fine. I live in Connecticut and pretty much everyone I know has had lyme disease. Most people dont think it is such a huge deal and I sit and listen to these stories horrified wondering why our case is so extreme. I wonder if maybe our kids have more trouble detoxing than most and when faced with an illness like lyme, left untreated sometimes for years, recovering from the disease becomes very difficult and requires a combination/balance in treatment approach to address microbes, detox,etc...

Anyway, I thought I would share the link. It gives perspective on the importance of detox but doesn't give a lot of suggestions! Does anyone see a llmd that addresses ammonia clearance and neurotoxins? Aside from charcoal and bentonite clay, I am still clueless.

We recently added cilantro, electrolytes, Chlorella and microsilica Ds's detox regimen. So we do dead sea salts+ginger+baking sode detox baths, alternate bentonite and chlorella and the rest is in his Lyme cocktail.

I use cholestryamine (a prescription med) and chlorella for binders, similar to what the clay and charcoal. Some others are beta-sitosterol and pectin. There is also Questran (a prescription med) as well. With the prescription meds, generally, they love to put real sugar or fake sugar in them, so I get it compounded at a pharmacy without that. I believe you can't do that right now with Questran, as it is under patent. They all can work, although I'm sure some individuals will do better with certain ones.

As far as detox, the single thing I have done that has helped the most is Allergie-Immun drops. This is a German company that will analyze your saliva for "allergies" to substances and create homeopathic-like drops with "information" in them to "repair your DNA". Whatever that means, what many with lyme report is removal of food and other allergies and true beginning of heavy metal detox process. The theory with the heavy metals, just like some with lyme, is the body does not recognize the substance as something inappropriate for the body, so the body does not remove the heavy metal or fight the borrelia. After taking the Allergie-Immun drops, the body recognizes the substance as bad and begins to take action.

I am taking NeuroAntitox II from Jernigan nutraceuticals to remove ammonia as well, and I can tell that is working as well, having ear ringing coming and going as a result of taking them (sometimes within a minute, sometimes 15 minutes).

Regarding the hulda clark liver flush, not sure what that is you refer to. I have read one of her books and taken some recommendations. I am now working on worms/parasites, and trying to avoid onions/mustard/garlic for a week just as a trial. I am taking "Gamma Rizole" from BioPure, which contains her recommended black walnut/clove/with one or two other herbs. I am considering doing what I think of as a gallbladder flush in a week or two, the thing where you dump grapefruit/lemon juice and olive oil down yourself in hopes of cleansing. I tried that gallbladder flush a few years back, and it only ended in vomiting, so doing some more prep work to hopefully make it successful this time. Is that the liver flush, or is liver flush a product?

With lyme, the detox is very important, the toxins really build up and can be a source of many of the symptoms.

Hi Michael:

I was wondering if the "allergie immune" drops are something you take regularly after you feel you have a "buildup" of toxins, or does this "dna repair" actually repair the detox system permanently? I'm also curious about how much it costs and why you felt it helped you the most. I am also taking cholestyramine as a detox product (not for lyme). It is extremely helpful in detoxing quickly, but it doesn't seem to help in repairing the damage alreday done.

The allergie-immun drops are meant as a more or less permanent repair of DNA to help with immune system and detoxing, including training your body to recognize what is bad and work to detox it. (I'm not sure any repair has to be permanent, if damaged once, perhaps it can be damaged again, would be my thought.) It is a program to take regularly while you are on it. Each bottle of drops they send you, you take 5 drops, 3 times a day, for 14 days (or if you energy test, you might do slightly different). Then you send another saliva sample and they send you a new bottle of drops, and this process continues until they test the saliva and it looks complete. It costs 450 euros to start (they are in Germany), plus 10 euro for each bottle beyond the first bottle. Last I looked the translation to dollars was about 120%-125%, so the 450 euros is perhaps around $575.

There is a very long thread on the lymenet message board about it (they call it AI there). A number of people who used it feel it really helped them get over lyme, I think partly detox but also partly because it is supposed to help the body properly deal with lyme bugs and know they are bad too.

I really feel it is doing good things as most bottles when I start taking them, initiate a big detox through skin, much more oily with pimples. Also energy testing for priority shows very high for me. What damage already done are you looking for help with repair?

Thank you for the information. I'll look into it. I was exposed to toxic mold for many, many years. Lots of nervous system damage manifesting itself in neurological disorders, strange autoimmune disorders, gluten sensitivities, and more. I have learned that the biological toxins from mold affect the body very similarly to lyme disease. I am now hypersensitive to "poor" air quality that my body can react with horride symptoms in a systematic and predictable fashion whenever I am exposed to the toxins. The cholestyramine clears out the toxins and my symptoms subside. However, this process can take up to a week to clear out of my body depending on the exposure level. I'd like to not have this "hypersensitive" reaction any longer. I am grateful for the cholestyramine, however, because it has given me 90% of my life back. Now, I'm shooting for the remaining 10%!

I was reading through some of the detox recommendations and have to admit this is a little overwhelming. We are only one month into our Lyme treatment for my son and haven't really done any official detox. In the interest of starting out small, can anyone recommend a couple of good "beginner" detox products? We are seeing our LLMD for our second appt next week so I would like to be a little educated when I talk to him about detox options.

I like the idea of epsom salt baths or foot soaks. I'm going to see if my dd's will sit with me on the edge of the tub and we can all soak our feet together. I'll need it this weekend, first weekend taking flagyl and I already feel a little funky.

Also, drinking lemon water throughout the day is suposed to help.

Suzan- good luck with the flagyl! How many days are you taking it?

Thanks! Just 3 days. Took 1 tonight, then 2 tomorrow and 2 on Sunday. If I feel Ok I'll take one Monday am and then that's it for the month.
