I get results from CAT scan today, I hope. This doctor said you can not tell if its fungal, viral or bacterial on CAT scan. Perhaps I should talk to your doctor!

I had the appointment already. We go for CAT scan today. I'll do the swabbing at end if month with Dr. B. I guess

Does anyone have a low Cam Kinase number, but still have PANDAS?

Is it a geneticist that I see for immune deficiencies? If not who...I have tons of blood work and labs from so many experts. I am thinking that they must have checked her immune system.

I know. I really don't think there working. I was trying to convince myself that they were, but its been 4 months (I know its not long, but I really don't see anything good.) My gut tells me to try something else.

Dr J has treated her for 2 years and she's not getting better. He did second set of labs and said Bart Lyme was gone but u never know for sure I know. So he continues to treat. A tibiotics make her worse thus far. Years ago there was sinus infection on MRI. I think they'll find something on this CAT. I need to try something else. Need to go after sinuses. Not sure how but what we've done thus far isn't helping. Ugh!

Would Dr. J address this or Dr B??? Or do I have too see another specialist?

I have been pouring through tests results and it said "Mycoplasma pneumoniae" was off or something like that. What is this and could this be causing any problems?

I went trying to see if he could see any sinus trouble, because her MRI at age 5 showed sinus infection. He looked in nose and said he saw nothing. I asked if he would culture ear wax and he told me "that's ridiculous!" Anyway...he wasn't going to do CAT scan either and laughed at the PANDAS explanation. I finally convinced him to do CAT scan. I need to find out where this stupid infection is. Thanks for listening.

Yes, we are seeing Dr. B. What antibiotics did you use in addition to the Nasonex? How did you find out is was fungal? I was told its very unlikely a baby can have a sinus infection at birth. Why do you say it was from birth? Thanks for the help.

I have been reading that antibiotics can make a sinus infection worse if its a fungal infection. What drugs do you use then. Are there any for a sinus infection that is fungal? I am thinging that this sinus infection is causing all of my child's psych. symptoms. Azith made her more psychotic, and gave her a stuffy nose and flu symptoms. Bactrim, mino, dorx gave her super stuffy nose. I am thinking these things are making her worse perhaps. Any advice?

My child tested high for fungal/yeast on this test. Do you know if this fungus is in the intestines, when they find it on this test? or can it be anywhere? I am asking because an MRI showed a sinus infection and I was wondering if it could be a fungal/sinus infection and that is the fungus showing up on the MOAT test. Hoping I am making some kind of sense. Dr. B. wants to try more antibiotics for strep in sinuses, but S.S. at one time wanted to try amphotecerin for the MOAT test results. I do take her to ENT tomorrow and hopefully he will shed more light on the situation. She is not getting better and I am so down. Something just seems to be eating away at her brain and I can't find it.

Just wondering if strep can hide in any part of the body when it comes to PANDAS? Is the infection always found? Thanks.

Yes. Bactrim and Doryx for lyme/Bartonella. Dr. J. is prescribing the antibiotics. S.Smith wants her on amphoceterin. He said it targets the fungus that she shows on MOAT test. I see ENT this Tuesday. Is musinex a spray and can I get it at walgreens? Thanks so much.

can you tell from a cat scan if the sinus infection in a fungal infections? Also...my girl is on bactrim and doryx. My child tested possitive for fungal/mold on MOAT test. He wants to put her on Amphotecerin B. Do you happen to know if a doctor would just add the ampho. for sinus/fungal to the anitbiotic that is making her congested or do you think they will have me stop the anibiotic that is causing the problem. Not sure if this bactrim/doryx is helping but i am not ready to stop in, since she is a bit calmer. Not much but every little bit helps. Please give me your opion. I talk to ENT and S. Smith on tuesday but I have a heard time waiting and would like your feed back. Thanks!

Made appointment with ENT and Dr. B. There HAS to be more to this child. She is not getting better. It's going on way tooooooo long. The only thing left (I think) is this sinus infection that has me suspicious. She was treated for PANDAS with several different abtibiotics and steroids which were a disaster. The lyme treatment is not doing much either. Just have to hang onto "hope." Without it I am lost!!!!

She had the MOAT test done with Great Plains Lab. Showed high in fungus. She also had an MRI done years ago, that showed sinus infection, that was never addressed. Doctors said it was nothing. Every time I put her on an antibiotic her nose gets filled with cement (so it feels like.) Probiotics do not seem to help. I am wracking my brains out trying to help this child and it came to me yesterday, that perhaps the fungal infection is in the sinuses, and being that the antibiotics are mold, they could be making her worse. I also read the followoing when I did a search on sinuses: "My dd8 gets a sinus infection within 3 weeks of going off antibiotics. From what I have read, a lot of sinus infections are caused by fungus and not bacteria, so maybe the antibiotics caused the fungal overgrowth. My daughter never flares with these sinus infections, but her breath becomes horrid!" Do you think I am onto something Kimballot? She tested possitve for mold and fungus awhile back, but the medication she was put on for it, did not help. We then went on to try the bactrim and doryx for lyme/bartonella and her now feels like their is cement in it (her words). Happens with all the antibiotics we try so far. She is on bactrim and doryx. She can not breath at all and I think it is making a fungal infection worse. Every time I put her on an antibiotic she said it's like cement up her nose.Do I try to find an antibiotic that does not have mold in it, or do I add something on for the fungal infection?

Mar, you may be onto something. Did you see where I posted above about antibiotics creating fungus. Well I had some test done by Scott Smith and he put her amphotecerin for mold or fungus. Whatever he put her on kind of made her wild and out of control, but perhaps its because she wasn't on anything for the lyme/bart. at the time. Perhaps the antibiotic is making her fungus problem worse. I kept thinking it was yeast and upping probiotics but perhaps I need something onboard for the fungus. What would I ever do without you guys. I need to call Dr. J. and see if he can put her on an antibiotic with out mold I guess. Do you know if there are any???
