Heather
Simon, Your question is one that I think about often. I always wonder where I would be without this site. It is actually a site that I just came upon by typing in some search words. I think of others especially Chemar's son who went through some years of torment before finding the answers in natural supplements. It makes me wonder how many others there are out there who are suffering this way without having any answers...only what the medical doctors tell them. I would think the majority of the population do not have the time, the technology or the initiative to search out a site such as this. I believe that God has led a lot of this to this site as there are so many that have firm spiritual beliefs that post here. I can only hope that with all of the successes that we are having that the word will spread to others gradually that alternative methods are positive experiences. I have certainly done my part in spreading the word in my community. Whether people believe me or not (and there are many that don't), I want to at least give them the information to know it is available and relate the success that I and many others on here have had. Chemar
The site here at Latitudes/ACN has been a true blessing to so many of us. However, it is relatively new compared with some others like BrainTalk (now on a new server but around for many many years) http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumd...aysprune=&f=253 and some of the other "mainstream" TS websites, like http://www.tourettesyndrome.net and many others. So I think the smaller membership here is more reflective of the relative newness of the website, as well as the as yet new aspects of natural treatment vs the conventional methods. Guest Guest_efgh
Hi Good point. I firmly believe that one needs a lot of LUCK (or god's blessings) to land on this site. As Heather rightly pointed out, its an answer for so many of our prayers. Not only with regard to TS, I would like to emphasise that my basic approach towards life, day to day problems, general outlook itself has changed after I got engrossed into 'latitudes'. There were days when I was basically so pessimistic and used to panic for even small things.. Now, I have become a more matured person and I am able to handle my tics better these days since there are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many sincere and positive people in this site. Heather , read in one of the posts that your son's tics are completely gone. I am so happy for him. What about the tingling sensation? Do you give any specific supplements for that? Do you think it could be related to TS? My son's tics have dramatically improved but they are not totally gone. I do see the traces (esp. vocal tics) on and off though just not obvious.. But , I should also mention that he eats all kind of food (except artificial junk) , natural salicylates (moderately), allergic stuff like milk , dairy products (moderately) and watches minimal TV/computer games etc.. I have come to a balance now wherein he does not feel deprived of any normal stuff (except artificial junk) at the cost of some minor tics.. How are things with the rest? Jean, havent heard from you for so long. Chemar, a basic question - do you intend to continue these supplements for a long time or do you plan to wane them , now that your son is in his mid teens and you have seen consistent improvement. Chemar
Hi efgh what a very encouraging post from you My son is now so very much improved that all he currently takes is a multivitamin/mineral and his EFA combo. If we notice a tic increase (VERY rare these days ) we add the cal/mag/zinc combo Even his OCD has faded so he doesnt even take the 5HTP at present His whole system seems to have stabilised. Of course he still avoids the nasty food additives......eating healthy is just a way of life for him now and he doesnt even desire any of the yuck stuff! One very thankful mom here
Claire
Hi Chemar and efgh, Chemar, that is wonderful news for you. I am hoping that after puberty some of the challenges decline. I am especially hopeful that doing the right things healthwise ups the odds. I remember the woman on Braintalk who was still giving her kids. You commented on Braintalk, but when I am there (I do scan it regularly), it seems like only a handful (Ronnas, FJ, Mrs. Doubtfyre and you) are looking at healing the immune system in some way. The rest seem more focused on coping and behavioral methods, mixed in with some meds. That is why I rarely post there, it seems like a different focus. efgh, I am glad that you have found the right balance for you son. I think it is clear from your posts that you are more relaxed--but I assumed it was because you were so focused on finding the solution, and once you did, you felt you could relax, ie that intensity worked out to your son's benefit. In any case, I am glad you are both happier. In our case, no symptoms, but I am still focused on healing. This is because the food restrictions are unlikely to be kept up once he is on his own. So I am seeing what is working. We are about to retest for mercury, yeast, (we have been doing nystatin for about 3 months) pyroluria, and food sensitivities (we are doing rotations, but I cheat on certain things). I am most concerned about the yeast and food sensitivities. We will know in January. Claire
