Doug Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Ok so dd has been taking azith for 4+months... so yesterday I go and fill her rx and a new pharmacist that was there handed it to me and said... "now you do know that she can't have any dairy with this for at least 2 hrs" I said really? well I give it to her after her milk in the morning so I guess I wont be doing that in the morning anymore..!!! after all of this time.. it's not on the box or in the paper that comes with it saying no dairy same goes for the probiotics that we take.. it needs to be taken at night far away from the morning dose of the azith. now the florastor for kids that dr.k wants her to take the company said that we could take it right away with the azith but I am going to call them back again just to make sure!! And I thought I was getting all of this all straight NOT!!! Tracie
peglem Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Well, guess I'm stupid, too! Can't take dairy at the same time as zith? Never heard of that.

NO Dairy(calcium), No Mag, No probiotics, NO Bentonite clay......2 hours before or after abx.....is that the list???
LNN Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 According to Pfizer's website: ZITHROMAX tablets and oral suspension can be taken with or without food. There is no mention of avoiding dairy. I couldn't come up with anything else by googling either. Since it was a new pharmacist, it might be worth checking with your regular pharmacist or calling pfizer. It would seem odd that there's no label on the script bottle or that none of us have ever been told this. Worth double-checking before nixing that morning glass of milk.
7upMom Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 i are dumb too... Actually laughed out loud when I read this !! Tracie- Did he give a reason why at all ?
Johnsmom Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 dont feel dumb. Probos and antibiotics should NOT be taken together. It makes the antibiotic less effective. Its after a couple of hours as noted already in another post on this subject. I often wonder if waiting longer than two hours is too late. ??
