My son used to have an issue with this, but hasn't for a very long time. Last night he had an accident, getting up this morning asking for new shorts. I knew what that meant.

Is bedwetting ever "normal?" Is it very, very common with your kids when they are in an episode? He shows no other signs. But over the past week or so his grades have gone down further; now he has 3 D's. Does anyone actually know what leads to bedwetting? What area of the brain controls this?

I think I will have cam kinase drawn for, and I am keeping our appt. with Dr. K June 15.

Definitely keep the appoint...

but could be he's forgetting to go to the bathroom before bed, drinking more than usual before bed, antibiotics, other meds, and sometimes its the bladder not growing as fast ...very common in boys to have a period of this around this age...

i too worry when ds had 2 accidents this month,,(not normal at all),but i think its all the meds...(at this point) even though we are having a terrible time right now.....

Bedwetting has always been the first sign for us. It took me a while to realize it. Now my son tells me that he was up going to the bathroom 2-3 times in the night and that he feels like he has to go all the time (he is 13). I do not know why this happens neurologically.... but keep your appointment, be sure to track behaviors each day. Are you getting titers drawn for ASO / DNASEB?

He has tested negative both times for ASO. He does have high Mycoplasma.

I'm sorry - you may have posted this before and I may have missed it. When you say he tested negative both times for ASO - when were the tests done, and did they report actual numbers or just negative?

Also - did you do DNASE B? my son never tests high for ASO, but does for DNASE B.

Fianlly, Is the high micoplasma new- and is it the IGG or IGM.

I know you have probably looked at all of this, but I am curious.

I am also wondering if your son has allergies, and if they could be leading to some inflammation.

First time he was tested was during the major episode (2009), actually, one month after he improved. I didn't see any numbers, the doc just said it was negative. Usually I ask for all copies and look them over myself, but not this time. Second time was just this past April, when Dr. T. ordered them. Again, I didn't see numbers but report just says negative.

The interesting thing about the Mycoplasma labs is that both IgM and IgG have increased since first test. Tests were one month apart, which may not be very long. The fact that IgG was so high last test (nearing 7.0, when normal = <.90) should mean an older infection, and should not involve an increasing IgM. Don't get it.

You might want to post that in the question / answer section of Dr. Ts website. I wonder what he would say to that.

My son's mycoplasma was 5.0 and 1377 - also strep titers were 1360...both very elevated...since being on azith - no bedwetting...and less anxiety. Still has mild ocd and tics. I read on a azith website (about the abx) - a man said that his prostate levels were very high and he had frequent urination at night and when he found out he had high mycop titers and went on zith - his levels went to normal and no more frequent urination. I tend to think that the zith is good for the myco p and we will be looking for another abx for the strep...just my observations so far....
