Hi Folks,

If you've had a differential CBC done on your child -- could you take a quick look at the poll and see if any of the monocytes, lymphocytes, eosinophils were out of range?

Do you mean ever? My daughter has had a lot of testing done...I'll look at her records and see what I can find.

Good question. I guess I meant during an exacerbation -- but was more trying to see if the Eosinophils were off for a lot of people. In PM's from a lot of folks it looks like Eosinophils are high and that made me wonder whether this was a common trait -- even for those on antibiotics.

I keep hearing about slightly high lymphocytes from others on forum. Also zith may lower neutrophils but it is not a common side effect, and recent ivig can lower neutrophils. And low neutrophils could mean autoimmune disease. Anyway docs didn't think much about my dd's lymphocytes but I am wondering about.

Although our LYM% was the only one below range, many others were almost out of range including the BASO% (.5 with a low of 0.0) and all but one of the count category, (abs lym, abs mono, abs eos, abs baso) were all just barely above the low range.

Both my kids CBC and differential counts were all in normal range. (Younger sons lymphocytes were slightly below normal range....I mean just a tiny bit...no concern to docs)

Aren't high eosionphils associated with allergies? And monocytes with infections? Not sure...just trying to think back on what I have read regarding this stuff.

All of daughter's numbers in her Differential CBC were normal.

In the actual CBC her MCV (mean cell volume) and MCH (mean cell hemoglobin) were high--out of range by a few points.

Her blood was drawn on 5/5/09...pretty much right in the middle of her PANDAS episode.

Ugh, don't know how I screwed this up! I looked over several years of labs (until recently I'd say she has been in exacerbation) and I'd never noticed before, but her lymphocytes are consistently high. They are only slightly out of range. Everything else is normal. Absolutes are all in range. For some reason, I checked neutrophils instead of lymphocytes on the poll- dang! Trying to do too many things at one time, I guess.

Well, this won't have any statistical significance until a lot more votes... always the danger with data -- so many other things can cause all the effects, I was just wondering if one of them stood out.

On the note regarding Eosinophils -- usually they are associated with parasites or allergies.

Unfortunately a diff was not ordered, just a CBC. When he saw the immunologist 2 months after PEX his IgE was 280 which is very elevated. He also had a significant response to the allergy test (so much so that they had to stop it, wipe it off, and give him Allegra). Very interesting.

Just found most recent bloodwork and HGB was below normal range. Also cell profile results show low WBC and MPV.

Sorry, I did vote, but our testing was OUT of exacerbation, all in normal range but all at the absolute bottom of the absolute. Her WBC was low at 3.8 (range 4.5-13.5), and absolute Gran was low at 1.4 (range 1.5 - 8.0)
