Chemar Posted August 23, 2004 Report Posted August 23, 2004 Hi everyone I have received a message from a new member here who is looking for info on oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC) She indicates that someone once posted about trying this treatment for a 14yo child? I dont recall seeing this, but if anyone has any info for her, please could you post it here thanks
Phyl Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 Hi, Dr. James Greenblatt from Massachusetts believes that OPC is beneficial. On his website, for Comprehensive Psychiatric Resources, he provides information on OPC Synergy: http://www.naturaladd.com/opc/index.html I believe that Dr. Greenblatt was interviewed in a Latitudes journal a few years ago. Claire Posted August 24, 2004 Report Posted August 24, 2004 I thought OPC was just a good supplement for ADD , e.g. grapeseed extract. Is this a treatment also?? Phyl, How have things been for your son lately? Claire
Phyl Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 Yes, I think that OPC is mostly promoted for ADD/ADHD. Claire, My son is doing very well these days. I have barely seen any tics all summer, though he does sometimes complain that he is anxious. (School starts in 2 weeks here). Unfortunately he still has some metabolites showing overgrowth of yeast/fungal infection. This is after many months of taking nystatin. At least the level is lower than it was last time we checked. I will start a post on this after I get new directions from our doctor on how to get rid of this infection. Phyl
