Bio and adopt Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 I am interested in trying omegas and probiotics with my PANDAS kids. Can you please tell me amounts, types, etc you have tried with results. They are 19 YO weighs 130lbs and 14 YO 110 llbs. I am also considering them for my little kids w/o pandas ages 4YO 30lbs and 19 months 26lbs. Any opinions or experiences would be appreciated. Thanks Melissa
Chemar Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Hi we dont deal with PANDAS, but son & hubby have TS and other neuro/immune stuff for probiotics we use Stoneyfield Farm plain yoghurt or plain kefir (homemade or store bought) for omegas we use the good balance of fresh ground flaxseeds and use a lot of flaxseed and coconut oil in food, plus wild alaskan salmon in diet. my son has always responded better to his probiotics and omegas from diet rather than in supplement form fishoil supps are considered the prime source of omega 3 but for inexplicable reasons some people with tics seems to tic more when on fishoil supps, even tho they can eat the fish just fine my son's gut is sensitive as he also has autoimmune Crohn's Disease, and any other form of probiotics apart from stoneyfield yoghurt and some kefir, seem to aggravate his GIT
dee45 Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 Hi, we use the probiotic called Pearls recommended by Dr. Latimer. Deanna
MomWithOCDSon Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 For probiotics, we alternate Culturelle, FloraStor and a Super-Acidolpholus/Probiotic blend we buy at Trader Joe's; the Culturelle and FloraStor, in particular, can be pricey (FloraStor is about $1.00/dose, and Culturelle is about $0.50/dose, in our area), so mixing it up helps it last longer. He also eats at least two cups of yogurt daily. For supplements, we're giving Vitamin D3, a B-complex, a green foods supplement (Trade Joe's "Very Green"), and NAC.
momaine Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 We use Culturelle successfully and as far as Omega' 3's, I've used from GNC, Jarrow's formula , and Carlson's. No problems with any of those. Angela
thereishope Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 In case you didn't know....Stoneyfield makes a probiotic yogurt as well.
