peglem Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Here's the thread from our immuno appt. last month http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?...c=5835&st=0 We saw him again yesterday, I wanted to talk to him about his re-pneumovax recommend, but it never really came up because he started explaining his findings and why he doesn't think my daughter really has an immune deficiency- It DID make sense. He said although she has some low Ig #s, he feels that strep is really the only bacteria she seems to be having trouble with (true). He said it does look like she fits the profile for PANDAS. After we see Dr. Latimer, if she bestows the dx and recommends IVIG, he will do the IVIG for us!!!! My daughter's pediatrician has been talking w/ him....AND the immuno said something about he thought the pediatrician had somebody lined up that would do PEX for us, if that is the recommend. I hope he's not misunderstanding that- because we go to MD in January and making that trip only once would be great!
EAMom Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Yay! I'm keep my fingers crossed. Hopefully you'll be able to get both PEX and IVIG. I think your dd needs both.
Debbie1 Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Wow peglem! It must feel great to finally have a team of doctors on your side!
faith Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 peglem, I'm guessing your immuno is not confident in 'himself', but if he has the support from somone who is apparently doing work in this field, then he'll go along. In one way its great, but in another it doesn't reek too much confidence in his own doctoring. but I guess its understandable because this is probably a new avenue for him.....how's that for a flip-floppy reply! Faith
kim Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Peglem, I wonder if he has been reading the work of Buster et al. I'm so happy for you and your daughter!
mama2alex Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 This is fantastic fantastic news!! I'm so happy for you. Keep us posted.
sf_mom Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaah! By the way, Dr. K said low but within normal or below normal range IgG Subclasses is typical among the PANDAs kids he has seen. If our younger son Romy has normal but low IgGs... tested twice three months apart he will treat him with IVIG for PID (emotional aspects are too hard to tell at 2 1/2). Romy also shows deficiencies in 13 of 14 STREP PNEUMOCOCCAL ANTIBODY TITERs.
T_Mom Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Peglem-- That is fantastic news--and well deserved. I am so glad this has worked out.
