pixiesmommy Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Pixie's dopamine was low/normal. I can't remember... are you wanting dopamine to be low or high? We just got the hard copy today. I told her the comment by the nurses and she just glowed. Thanks for that! Manda
sf_mom Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 I would think just normal.... anyway, I'm sure you are seeing huge improvements in Pixie. One thing I've noticing since IVIG is that our son IS sitting still. He used to twist and turn in his chair at the dinner table so much he would often fall out and hurt him self. I am amazed at his ability to sit still, play by himself...... he is 'content'. I honestly think he has been sick much longer than I was aware and I just got used to his hyperactivity. I think many of our kids have been sick much longer than we may have orginally thought. Sometimes I hate the use of the words "sudden onset" because I think it has definitely been more gradual (in our case) with the last episode no longer responding to the abx as it had in the past.

I completely agree with both of you. I think for most of us, things had to get pretty bad to realize that we have pandas. But, in hindsight, for many of us, the onset was more insidious...or at least we had previous "episodes" which flew under the radar so to speak, such as milder ocd, milder tics, urinary frequency, sensory issues, hyperactivity, "difficult behavior".
bronxmom2 Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 I too wince at the "sudden onset" as part of the diagnostic criteria for pandas. Many of us have watched this insidious thing taking over our children for years before we had our "aha" moment.
sf_mom Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 I wince when they want to change the name of PANDAS but words 'sudden onset' are included in the renaming name that is up for consideration.
