ShaesMom
Dr Latimer told us straight out that "no child should be on Zith." So, I think she would be very reluctant to use it...although I know she has. I am not knocking any parent who gives zith....believe me....I know you have to do what works. I am just letting Michelle know she will probably have a tough time getting Zith from her....but, I am sure if you push hard enough...it could be done. Kelly Did she say why no child should be on Zith? Does she have something against long term abx or just zith?? Sam
Kayanne
Michele, When my daughter was on the pred for about a week....I have never seen her act so enraged...she was beginning to get belligerant prior to seeing Dr. Latimer, but I do think the steroid made her rage even more....I remember just trying not to cry because I kept thinking in my head..."she belongs in a hospital..." and I was thinking of the psych ward! The only way I managed through it was to try to shut down my emotions...and just over and over I kept telling myself that "she is sick...that's why she is acting this way..." Also...I was really only dealing with this behavior for maybe three weeks? (she started to calm down the third week of the pred.) Most people can handle that much....I cannot even imagine how difficult it has been for you...your family are in our prayers...lots of hugs! Remember.....it is not wrong for you to try to take a break, and do something on your own...if it is possible. In fact...it would probably be best for your kids if you try to find a way to recharge. I want to say also, that if a situation is going to cause stress...such as going out in public...is it just possible to avoid it for a while. We didn't let our kids go to the first week of the summer playground program because she was just starting the pred, and we didn't want to stress her out too much...social situations were hard for her, and rushing to get out the door was also hard on her...so we just lounged around for a week... EAMom
Wow P. Mom...I'd also be interested to hear more about Dr. Latimer and Azith. Didn't she put Kayanne's dd on Azith?

pixiesmommy
Without having read the other replies (I'm sorry- short on time at the moment!!), my dd9 is on Abilify 5mg and Prozac 2mg. I read the first post and ref to Prozac, and just wanted to say that while our psych felt that Prozac would help with tics, we have been on it a little over a month and the tics have not only INcreased, but now in addition to the finger flicking, sniffing and eye-blinking, we have a shoulder-shrug/arms over head stretch/head toss tic. I can't say for sure that it was CAUSED by the Prozac, because as we all know, tics ebb and flow, come and go, but it seems awfully suspicious. Also I have seen NO decrease in her aggression, etc while on the Prozac, but she is more awake (Abilify was zombifying her) and now she is having potty (pee) accidents day and night as well. ALL since the Prozac. UGH!! We go back on Friday to the psych and I'm curious to see his take on whether the Prozac has anything to do with the changes. Just my 2c! Hope to catch up with the rest of this thread later. Manda
P_Mom
EAMOM, Yes, that is why in my post I was very careful to say that I do know that she has used it, and that if you pushed her, you could probably get it. That is just what she said to us........when I was reluctant about the PEN Vk because of the rigorous dosing, and mentioned Zith every 5-7 days would be great....she just looked at me and said..."no child should be on Zith." I wasn't going to argue with her and I dropped it at that. She is good about answering e-mails....you could probably e-mail her and ask her why. ShaesMom, Well, she put my kids on long term Pen Vk, so, I am assuming it was the Zith she didn't want to use....not long term antibiotics.
