patty Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 For those who are sensitive to fish oil, when symptom increase as a result of taking it, how long does it take for the tic(s) to settle down? Typically when my son takes something that spike his symptoms like the Unda #s, usually it settles within 1 to 2 weeks. I gave him 2 gel capsules of Nordic Natural 31/2 weeks ago, the vocal is still here with only a slight decrease. My son has not had vocal tic for 10 mos., and it returned the same day i gave him the fish oil. Could that be a coincidence? Pat
kim Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Patty, Were you giving Omega 3 only or the 3 6 9 combo? We have both in the Nortic Naturals. The omega 6 can have proinflamatory effects. Just a thought.
faith Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Pat, had you given the fish oil any time before that? You say you only just started giving the fish oil that ONE day? Did you continue after that day? ... I don't know how long it would linger, but obviously when you see something like that, OUT it goes (and be leary of inviting it back again. ), Well, let us know how it goes, maybe it will get less and less. Faith
patty Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 Faith, I do give fish oil to my son about 2 yrs ago while he was having a minor vocal and it seemed to increase his tics so i stopped. My son's drs both agreed that he would benefit from fish oil, so i gave it to him 1 time and stop when his vocal returned. When the vocal issue resolve, i will not go near the fish oil with a 10 foot pole. Pat
