itsme
Hello everyone, My 5 yr old son has TS. I know that building his immune system is one of the best things we can do to reduce stress and tics. He is much healthier now than just 6 months ago due to supps, diet, ect.... However he has already had 2 colds in the past 6 weeks. Both of my sons (ages 5 and 6) get sick (colds, fever, bronchitis, ect....) about 8 times a year. And I'm wondering how normal this is. My question is, how many times does your child get sick? Breif answers are appreciated - 1, 4, 13, ect..... PS. I read on a few internet sites that young school kids average around 10 cold a year!! WOW!
Caryn
Hello everyone, My 5 yr old son has TS. I know that building his immune system is one of the best things we can do to reduce stress and tics. He is much healthier now than just 6 months ago due to supps, diet, ect.... However he has already had 2 colds in the past 6 weeks. Both of my sons (ages 5 and 6) get sick (colds, fever, bronchitis, ect....) about 8 times a year. And I'm wondering how normal this is. My question is, how many times does your child get sick? Breif answers are appreciated - 1, 4, 13, ect..... My son was always sick prior to diet and supps change. When ran a pyroluria test and discovered his zinc levels were low in addition to the B6. Our doc said that pyroluria is common with TS patients. He now has added zinc in his supp schedule. I noticed a huge difference in his ability to fight infection. He caught some sort of flu bug that was going around his class this fall, but he never came down with any symptoms other than a low-grade fever and tiredness. After 12 hrs he was himself again. I was shocked he bounced back so well, as his history was always to morf from a bad battle with flu to a huge cold to a raging ear or sinus infection (to antibiotics in some cases). Also, does he have a white coated tongue? You should give him daily probiotic and cut back on breads, sugars to combat candida. BTW, a little OT--- I got lax on the probiotic with my son (just giving him yogurt instead) and I have noticed his tongue is getting that whitish film again. Does anyone have experience with candida coming back? What are the warning signs and what do you do to keep it at bay and for how long? faith
I think I might be in the minority, but my son really doesn't get sick often since he's a baby. He'll get a virus (24 hour or so bug with feeling lethargic and throwing up, slight fever) maybe twice a year. A sore throat once in a while, did have the strep May of last year. Also never had ear infections. If his immune system wasn't that strong, wouldn't he be sick more often? I mean he seems pretty healthy, but I wonder. So my brief answer is I'm gonna say 2 x a year. Caryn - I forget if your son was tested for yeast? When you say white coated tongue, is that all the time or upon waking? I don't really see that in mine, but then I don't know if he really has any yeast issues, but I do give a probiotic every day. Faith
Chemar
apart from his TS and Crohn's my son is hardly ever sick, and rarely gets colds or other infections. He is almost 18 now, but has had very few colds thruout his life and has never had strep etc
