colon cleanses

Recommended Posts

I am becoming aware of the fact that my son may be constipated. I was wondering if anyone has given their child a colon cleanse or themselves for that matter. If so have you seen an improvement with tics. Also if you have experience with this what type/brand did you use. I am very leary about giving one to my son.

Thanks for any input.

Hi Pam,

I don't know about using that on a child for constipation. I'm not sure if that is what its for. Although I have tried one for myself just based on reading that it is good if you want to sort of clean house (you could read up on them and people's testimonies using a search). The one I tried was called "First Cleanse" by Renew Life. Really it wasn't anything so great, not sure if it really did anything. Its supposed to be gentle if you never did it before. But I would inquire about using it for children.

If you are trying to relieve constipation for a child and just want to get things moving, I would suggest mineral oil (1 teaspoon twice a day). That's what the urinologist suggested when my son was first starting to toilet train and was holding it in resulting in constipation..... Ha, thanks for reminding me of that fun time!

Hi Pam,

I did a cleanse a couple years ago.....the brand was Wild Rose. I'm not sure though if it was strictly a colon cleanse or a GI cleanse or what..............maybe they all fall under the same category i don't know. This one had a list of foods to avoid and foods that were OK (for 15 days), as well as take a few pills/liquid drops each day. I was not aware of any improvement in my tics though I wasn't really thinking about that at the time. I was just trying to get rid of excess crap (no pun intended) in my system. <_<

but i do agree with Faith.......i'm not sure I'd want to try it on a child.....this particular one was quite harsh. I'd say try the mineral oil as well.

Pamela, I would agree to be very careful about using a colon cleanse formula on a child without it being specifically recommended by a doctor and with a specific product

There are also colonic treatments (which are IMO very uncomfortable and not a very pleasant experience <_< to have) but are done by a professional and so monitored etc

I've used the CleanseMax & FiberMax by Advanced Naturals. I've also done colonic treatments, and I agree that they are very uncomfortable to have. As to whether those treatments have helped, I would say yes & no. My yeast was lowered when re-tested, but I can't be sure it was related to those treatments. I also agree to talk to your doctor about these products/treatments.
