Guest
Hi Everyone, I'm getting really scared at this point. My sensory issues are the worst that they've been for a long time. About a month ago, I gagged and almost puked when taking selenium, and every since then I've had a heck of a time getting myself to take the vitamins. For me vitamins are a huge part of my success. I've been feeling a head jerking tic that's trying to come on which I keep trying to push away. I'm also really fidgety. My sleep is horrible. For example, last night I couldn't get to sleep until 2:30 or 3:00 AM (actually I almost responded to a post at 2:30 this morning:)) I woke up at 8 AM this morning feeling fully rested. I even tried getting chocolate milk to take my vitamins with, and I'd rather not drink the chocolate milk if it means taking my vitamins. That is not like me at all because I have always loved and craved chocolate milk. Chocolate and dairy are both food allergies, but if it would help me get started back on these vitamins I wouldn't fight allowing myself to have it for even a minute. However, it seems to offer no help. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know what to do about the vitamins at this point, but I know I need them. This isn't the only sensory thing that has been off the walls lately. I don't remember the last time I've eaten a fruit or veggie. It's not that I'm gagging on them, but that I don't want to have anything to do with them. Touch has even been bothering me. Carolyn
patty
Carolyn, Sorry to hear that your sensory problem is preventing you from taking your vitamin. I am wondering if you can benefit from the "Emotional Freedom Technique" that i recently read on Dr. Mercola's website. I have been trying it on myself for the last week, and it seems to alleviate some of my fear, worry & anxiety. In short, the EFT frees your emotional blockers by tapping on your various acunpressure points. Maybe that will help resolve some of your sensory issues. Another suggestion that you may have already tried. Can you smashed the pills & mixed them in with food that you are able to eat? Please let me know if it works. I am always curious about energy treamtments. Patty
Chemar
Hi Carolyn so sorry you are going throught this do you have any of the occupational therapy treatments for calming SID? Like the brushing etc. My son has always found that very useful when sensory issues flare my son went thru a tough patch with his supps a couple of weeks ago too, Carolyn, cos the pet food contamination scare triggered OCD that made him phobic about his supps He literally had to fight himself and force himself to take them...despite the gagging and paranoia he felt....mainly because he knows exactly what will happen if he stops taking them. He also got phobic about food for the same reason, and again, has had to "psyche" himself through it to maintain his healthy diet. I hope you are able to get over this hurdle Carolyn...perseverance, determination and fortitude are amongst your strong points, and have helped you through many hard times.....they will see you through this too
Guest
Chemar-No, I don't have any occupational therapy treatments for calming SID. Is there a website or book that explains how to do the brushing and any other treatments for calming SID? Patty-I'll take a look at the "Emotional Freedom Technique". I haven't tried smashing the pills & mixing them with food, but I think that would taste bad.
Chemar
Carolyn here is the website for The Out of Sync Child http://www.out-of-sync-child.com/ the book by the same name was an absolute blessing to us. The OT therapist used a lot of these techniques and taught us how to continue them ourselves. EG: To brush: get a soft brush and gently brush skin (arms, legs, back, tummy) with brush strokes toward lymphatic system. Brush as hard or soft as feels comfy to you if you are feeling hyped sensory, this can be very soothing
