Mayzoo
Mayzoo, how are you administering it to your child? (I also have a child whose speech is effected by PANS) I bought the bluebird drops as well. Next, I may try Cibdex from Amazon next time. Yesterday, I gave her 5 drops under the tongue (hold for 60 seconds) twice a day followed by swishing water to rinse and two jelly beans to reward and rid her of the flavor. I am going to go with 10 drops twice a day for a week, then drop to 8 drops twice a day for a week, then try 5 or 6 drops. Once a level is built up, you can reduce the amount given. I have been doing a lot of reading up and this is also anti-bacterial (mainly gram +), mildly anti-fungal, reduces inflammation in the brain, and helps reduce anxiety. There are many proported benefits for autistic kiddos as well, and she seems to be more likely to look at me today than yesterday, but I am seriously looking and hoping for benefits. Our whole family, like everyone on here, really could use a good result from something. PANDAS is taking a toll on all of us for these last two + years. We go to T-ball today, and I am hoping, praying and fingers crossed that her sound sensitivity will be reduced. If her sound sensitivity is decreased then her normal voice may eventually come back. I suspect whispering is as much a habit now as anything. How is your child's speech affected if I may ask? Edited April 17, 2014 by mayzoo
T_Anna
May zoo. DS is 125lbs (hopefully more now, but we avoid scales since he had restrictive eating). I'm still giving it in capsules, but I ordered a vapor pen from bluebird-botanicals.com because I think it might be helpful that way (curious to try it myself). T_Anna
He went out again today (just his 2nd time), to walk to a friend's house. It took him forever to get all his things together, but he walked out alone and we haven't heard from him yet. His plan is to take a subway into Manhattan with his friend.....I have been a nervous wreck since I woke up : / T.Anna JuliaFaith

Hrosenkrantz
Mayzoo, my son, prior to pans, was diagnosed with a mixed expressive receptive language disorder. When pans hit and when he flares, he can be apraxic, aphasic, whisper, and just have trouble speaking. His language came back significantly while on steroids. Dr l says he has selective mutism, not the other language disorder. T Anna, what's a vapor pen?
T_Anna
A vapor pen is a way to inhale the oil, it's an electronic device similar to an electric cigarette. The information I read says that inhaling the vapor gives a different effect than ingesting. I will try on myself first since there is still a potential stigma that it's similar to smoking. It's all legal since you are using it with CBD oil that has no THC. T. Anna
Mayzoo
I asked kiddos Immuno about this supplement if he had heard any good/bad/indifferent. He responded today that he feels this supp is "excellent". Kiddos immuno is considered a reknowned PANDAS doc. He also is an autism specialist, so his "excellent" could be also because my kiddo has both autism and PANDAS. Mayzoo
As for the vapor pens, bluebird has them pre-filled for 75.00 and they do not appear "re-usable". I would suspect we could put the oral oil we have in a regular vapor pen, but I have not asked bluebird. I have found rechargeable vapor pens for 10.00 on up. NancyD
Thank you for sharing your experience with CBD Hemp Oil, t_anna. I have been considering it for some time for DD's anxiety/OCD while we treat Bart/Babesia. It was just the push I needed to order some from Bluebird Botanicals. Just received ours today and will give first dose tonight. Is there any reason I can't put the drops in a teaspoon of cranberry juice and have her hold it under her tongue for 60 seconds? Will this dilute it too much? Our doctor suggested we start with 5 drops BID, then increase to 10 BID, then 15 BID. Pbmom

NancyD
So far nothing to report (either positive or negative) at 5 or 10 drops. Will increase to 15 drops next. Mayzoo
I took kiddo to an Easter party yesterday, and it was loud. She did very well during the party and had fun, but had small "upsets" shortly after we got home siting that the party was loud as the cause. They did not last very long. Overall her mood has been great. She has also been slightly interacting with our new puppy that otherwise she was very scared of (he is still in the nipping stage *sigh*). She begged for a puppy and then was too afraid to play with it . We are using this for anxiety, ocd, and sound sensitivity mainly. ETA: I just realised, kiddo has stopped twirling her hair for the last two to three days......yipeeeee!! That is the most significant improvement I can report. She has been steadily hair twirling for about four months now. Edited April 20, 2014 by mayzoo
