patty
Anyone has switched your table salt to SEA SALT for magnesium & other trace minerals ( like potassium)? Instead of giving magnesium supplement to my son, i would like to obtain it thru food source because it is easy to use and well absorbed, and i believe it is safer. The book i am reading "The Magnesium Factor" recommends: Cardia Salt, SmartSalt and Celtic sea salt. My only concern is metal in the sea salt. Does anyone know about it? Magnesuim can also obtained thru drinking water. Now it brings me back to what kind of water filter to use. Since i couldn't decide, we are still using our Brita filter and trying various spring water and RO water from the bottle. I am leaning against RO water just because the filtration process filters out all the trace minerals in the water. I just realized a couple of brand of RO water actually add back these trace minerals into the water (Costco). We are also trying to eat more of the high magnesium food in our diet. Thx! Chemar
Patty i am curious as to why you arent keen to give a magnesium supplement i agree it is good to take as much of nutritional needs via food and drink....but in the case of magnesium being so very important re tics....a good supplement is IMHO essential, in addition to the epsom salt baths, cream etc
patty
Chemar, The reason i have not yet supplement my son with magnesium is that I am not sure how much to give him to reach a theraputic dosage. And can i supplement magnesium w/o calcium? As i have been reading on this forum, it is best to supplement mag with cal to have the optimal effect. I know from you that i should use magnesium taurate. But what is the best form of calcium to get? My son is only 6.5 and can't swallow pills, so i am looking for a powder form for both supplements. In the meantime, i am trying to up the magnesuim in take via food. Thx! Patty
