Chemar
Patty magnesium has been found to be the #1 supplement needed for reduction of tics..........we have many many threads here on this subject and Bonnie Grimaldi has done extensive research into this the best form is magnesium taurate (available from Bonnie Grimaldi's Bontech line or from Cardiovascular research brand at the Vitamin Shoppe stores or online magnesium is best given in a 2:1 ratio with calcium ie 2 parts calcium to every one part magnesium and our docotr feels zinc should be included avoid magnesium oxide as it is very poorly absorbed and the citrates can have laxative effects here again is the link to mrsD's excellent magnesium info thread on neurotalk http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/showthread.php?t=1138
Giselle
I think with magnesium - if taken orally you take it to bowel tolerance (when your stools get runny you cut back the dose until stools remain formed). I don't know what the signs are for taking it transdermally (the baths) but Hoyt gets a carton in a semi-full tub each evening and is only the better for it. He's almost 9 and weighs only 60 pounds (he's tall but very slender and slight - lucky him!). My son's Environmental Doctor suggested the enzymes he's taking they are called "Total-gest" and will check on what's in them when I get back - the play that Hoyt's singing solo in is tonight and I'm helping with all the actors, costumes, etc. at 1:00! Talk to you soon! Giselle
kim
Patty, I do think that enzymes have been very beneficial here. Maybe these links will help get you started http://www.enzymestuff.com/basicswhichenzyme.htm http://www.enzymestuff.com/ http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm There are enzyme products now available, that will digest the yeast cell-wall and allow either the body's own system [along with probiotics] to eliminate the yeast, or if given along with GSE or other anti-fungal, the enzymes will cause the anti-fungal to be much more effective. These enzyme products are No-Fenol from HNI, Candidase from Enzymedica, and Candex [don't know the manufacturer for this one].
Guest
Patty, I wanted to bring this topic back up because when I researching a topic for myself, I came across some info regarding question number 2 of yours. The link below states that mobilized metals and toxins can get stuck in the lympth channels. It's writen by a well-known doctor for children with Autism & gut problems. Just scroll down to Lymphatic drainage and it's towards the bottom half of the page: http://www.heavymetaldetox.net/Research%20...hardt/index.htm Carolyn Carolyn & Chemar, After reading your replies, i want to confirm a few things. 1. Since my son has a filling, stay away from metal detox? 2. Since my son's lymph nodes are swollen, it is evidence that toxins are trapped in his system, so detox is necessary? Because "lymphatic drainage" is NOT metal detox, so it is OK??!! 3. Since Chlorella doesn't cross the blood brain barrier, it is safe to use while my son has the filling in his mouth?? Does chlorella only mop up mercury in the body and NOT the brain? BTW, the epsom salt seems to help with my son's tic. He is also on chinese medicine to clear up his nasal inflammation right now. So i think the 2 things are working in complement of each other. Thx! Patty
