cheap air filter helped + ?

I posted before about painting our house about a week and a half ago, and how tics had increased at that time (and stayed increased). Claire said that the effects of the paint could last for several weeks & that maybe an air filter would help?

 

Well, I priced air filters online & they were way out of our budget, but my husband had found a discounted small room air filter a couple weeks ago at WalMart for $45. I thought, since it was already here, I'd put in the bedroom last night & see if that helped anything.

 

It did! I woke up this morning with about 50% reduction in tics, and have maintained it all day. It probably helped for maintenance that I spent a lot of the day out, rather than at home.

 

It is some kind of HEPA filter, but it also has this ionic option. What do you all think of the ionic part? I don't understand what it's supposed to do at all. Do you think it would help or hurt? I kinda don't want to mess with sucess, YK?

we do NOT use the deionization feature of our filters because it makes us all feel weird so I would suggest caution before you try that

I am so glad to hear that you have a 50% reduction in tics after using a HEPA filter.

 

I would recommend against the ionized HEPA filter. It produces a small of amount of ozone which is harmful to asthma sufferer. You may reconsider since you are pregnant and have a little child.

 

I just bought a Honeywell Air Purifier at Target for about $110. It's good for about 200 sq ft. It kills air borne bacteria and has a carbon filter that eliminates smell. I have been using it for a couple of days and is pretty happy of it.
