It's been a while since I needed a sleep aid for my daughter. She usally starts crying nonstop from 8:00pm on, and I'm looing for a break at that point. Can you tell me the dosage for melatonin again. My daughter is 11 yrs old and around 70lbs. Also, any other types of sleep aid suggested? Last night I tried a homeopathic remedy but ended up giving benadryl around 10:30. Thanks in advance.

We do the same with Melatonin. Our DD didn't sleep for 2 years straight and when we inally starting seeing our ND, she said that there would be no harm in giving even up to 10mg on occasion for ou 50lb DD. We never went that high, but I'm pointing this out in case the 3mg isn't cuttin it.

However, we can get DD to fall asleep but she has a hard time staying asleep. We give her L-Theanine when we notice this happening.

Now, I need something for me!!! Melatonin is too strong for me for when I need to get up in the middle of the night with one of the kids.

Our doc has me give a GABA spray at bedtime and melatonin. He says we can go up to 50 mg! I've never heard anyone say that high. Obviously we have not done that but I give 2.5 mg sublingual tabs and typically will give 2. 5 mg usually does the trick (not without a lot of anxiety still)...It does not help to keep her asleep though.

Maybe I should try time released. Hmmmmmm

Just a thought - if you give melatonin at too high a dosage, sleep will come quickly, but you will not stay asleep through the night. It would perhaps be better to give a smaller dosage (1mg perhaps) along with an XR version to cover later waking.
