tpotter Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 I know it's been posted here before, but I can't find it, and want to do it on my DS19 who has not been taking abx in months. It would be nice to know if that's truly what's going on. He was diagnosed with it almost 2 years ago (had about 3-4 bands positive, and lots of symptoms,) but he can't take abx, because of repeated c-diff. So, I don't know what we'll do with the info (same problem with DH who actually tested positive on the WB, because he takes coumadin, and can't take abx pulsed or sporadically,) but I do want to know. Thanks

Thanks Advanced Laboratory Services. It's a culture test. Need to have doctor call and order the test kit and sign off. Have blood drawn in late afternoon - but must be shipped out that day. I think we had blood drawn aroung 2-2:30. www.advanced-lab.com 855-238-4949 Edited May 22, 2012 by philamom

philamom Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 (edited) bumped up a previous post on the culture test. My daughter was taken off of antibiotics end of September for elevated LFT's and other abnormal labs. We decided to run the culture test end of December before putting her back on antibiotics. It was positive and they sent us a photo of the spirochetes that were cultured. edit- we also ran the elisa test with Quest the same day which was negative. Edited May 23, 2012 by philamom

ptcgirl Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 Does anyone know if Dr Jones is using this test now?
philamom Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 Does anyone know if Dr Jones is using this test now? He is very intrigued with the test. He will order it if you ask. You/your child must be off abx at least 4 weeks for this culture. He has not ordered many due to the cost of the test. I had my family doctor order it and had the lab forward results to Dr. J as well.
ptcgirl Posted May 29, 2012 Report Posted May 29, 2012 Off of abx for four weeks could be a challenge right now. Sounds interesting, though. Thanks for your reply!

Yes, he does not recommend stopping abx to run this test. My daughter was off abx for other reasons, so we decided to take advantage of it and order it. She resumed abx shortly after.

Yeah...also this test could be a game changer for the claim that there is no proof of chronic Lyme and 3 weeks of doxycycline will be enough. After all, the Lyme naysayers will say the Igenex tests (if you are positive through Igenex) is just giving you a false positive. But, if you have the culture, they can't debate that.

This was after a year of treatment for lyme & then 3 months off antibiotics b4 testing. Also, ran Igenex a month prior to the culture test, which was also positive. The only negative result was the Elisa.
SSS Posted May 30, 2012 Report Posted May 30, 2012 I had a positive blood PCR test through Igenex, and high positive Bartonella through Igenex- but my dd did not get something that said 'positive' from Igenex, just the Lyme only bacteria bands all lit up, and symptoms. I hit a very rough patch with her with Lyme treatment, and seemed to have stumped the world with this child. She has been off antibiotics for a little while now, treating with naturals, and I'm tempted to have her do this Advanced Lyme test- and if it comes back with a spirochete picture, hang it up on the fridge to keep me going with her.
