jcc Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Just wanted to let any former BTers know that a temporary site has been set up, thanks to Dr. John Groholl. Although there have been no updates, Zombieslayer says that JL does plan to get BrainTalk up and running, but has had other work obligations preventing him from doing so. I don't know why there haven't been any updates, though. http://forums.braintalk2.org/index.php http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2006...lk-communities/ Also...from zombieslayer~ http://www.thunder65.com/bt_temp_chat/chat/ Also, if you could pass that bit along to everyone else you know that will want to use the temp chats I'd appreciate it Cara (jcc)
Chemar Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Hi Cara and thanks for the info I too have been very puzzled as to why the message hasnt been updated, and why it would be taking so long to get BT back up (it's been down since June actually, and JL's July 20th message only appeared almost a month after the initial crash!!) BT is a lifeline for many many people and I really do hope that JL will make every effort to get it back up again.
Tessa Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Yes, Thank you.... ! I've been away for a bit and this is my first post here. I was disappointed to see BT still down. Take care, Tessa PS The new BT link isn't recognizing my signin/password. Has anyone else tried?
jcc Posted August 22, 2006 Author Report Posted August 22, 2006 Yes, Thank you.... ! I've been away for a bit and this is my first post here. I was disappointed to see BT still down. Take care, Tessa PS The new BT link isn't recognizing my signin/password. Has anyone else tried? You need to register. There isn't any of the old data. Its a completely separate thing. BrainTalk went down early July. We put are Golden Retriever down on July 3, sadly, and I had posted about that. It was just a few days later that it crashed. Still...yes...a very long downtime...but the worst part is no update. That part still puzzles me...when so many people are really dependent on it being there. Cara
orthomolecular Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Well that is progress. I can't register at the site because the box with text in it that you have type to show you can read the screen OK only comes up as a red X in a little square.
Chemar Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Hi Tessa how good to see you again! I have really missed you and all other friends at BT Cara, thanks again for the update and time frame. So sorry about your dog.....I know how sad it is when a beloved pet has gone.
Tessa Posted August 22, 2006 Report Posted August 22, 2006 Hi Chemar , I miss all my old friends, too, and wonder how they all are. Cara....have had a nice and SIL diagnosed recently with celiac!!!! I will try the new BT and see what's up. Take care, Tessa
Giselle Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Does anyone out there know how BT works? It seems like such a huge entity I had visions of more than one person running it. It's hard to believe that there's only one person solely responsible. Isn't it part of Harvard - I thought it was? I think it has become such a necessary part of people's lives perhaps more people should be involved in it's maintenance and managing all those funds that were poured into it last it crashed. I mean it is the very life blood of some people. I've read other boards over there besides the TS board and it's the only thing they've got. I feel terrible for them that they've been without it for several months now. I'm so computer illiterate so not sure how a board like this or that one run . Giselle
Chemar Posted September 13, 2006 Report Posted September 13, 2006 In the absence of any further updates from the administration of BrainTalk, and based on the fact that the site is still down, many people have "moved on" ...........and thankfully what has affectionately become known as BT2 (BrainTalk2) is up and running and developing into a really great community (thanks to Dr John Grohol, who also has a great site known as PsychCentral http://psychcentral.com/ ) so, in case there is anyone reading here who is searching for Braintalk, here is the link to the BT2 Tourette board http://forums.braintalk2.org/forumdisplay.php?f=25 and here is the link to the main menu index for this growing and vibrant community http://forums.braintalk2.org/index.php
Ronnas Posted September 14, 2006 Report Posted September 14, 2006 Thanks! I have missed BT and I can't imagine what has been wrong for it to be down like this for so long. GREat pic...I am a visual person so I love seeing a picture... Ronna
Tessa Posted September 16, 2006 Report Posted September 16, 2006 Thanks, Chemar for the reminder ....BT2 is growing and I'm glad to have found this spot, too! Take care, Tessa PS I, too love the pic!
Guest Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Hi Everybody, The original braintalk is back up and running. None of the old posts are there yet. Carolyn
