tpotter Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 I wonder if it could also help to find hidden lyme http://news.unchealthcare.org/news/2012/march/drug-helps-purge-hidden-hiv-virus-study-shows/
fightingmom Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 (edited) WOW. So cool!!! vorinostat also attacks the enzymes that keep HIV hiding... SO...the enzymes keep the virus hiding. Perhaps there is an enzyme involved in 'surpressing' Lyme or prohibiting it from rearing it's ugly head in labs? Who wants to set up their basement into a science lab, like Alan MacDonald? Me, me, me! Man, I love this stuff. I'm currently wrapping up my nursing school pre-reqs...if I was younger, I totally would go back for microbiology. Yesterday, we did blood smears in class and I was totally hoping to see a spirochete. I'm sick, I know. Edited April 17, 2012 by fightingmom
philamom Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 That would be something. Off to research "HDAC inhibitors". fightingmom- can use my basement, you Mad Scientist
tpotter Posted April 18, 2012 Author Report Posted April 18, 2012 That would be something. Off to research "HDAC inhibitors". fightingmom- can use my basement, you Mad Scientist I just emailed the contact person for the article (it was put out on a website for a university I went to. I'll let you all know the answer.) Oh, btw, fightingmom...your question on the pANDAS forum about all your symptoms, including pain in your feet, fatigue, etc. Yes, it's probably lyme and co-infections. Bartonella will cause pain in your feet...I had it really badly, and it clears up the week I'm on Tindamax (but comes back the weeks I'm off.) My fatigue has really gotten better. Keep pursing lyme and co-infections.

I wake up like this and my first steps and going down the stairs are brutal then it slowly lets up. I owe you a PM. I will try to do that tonight. Anything more than a few lines and I keep telling myself I will do it later and then don't. Sorry. Can not wait to hear the response you get to your email! Edited April 18, 2012 by fightingmom

philamom Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 We see a Rheumatologist next week - I'll get his take on it.
tpotter Posted April 20, 2012 Author Report Posted April 20, 2012 We see a Rheumatologist next week - I'll get his take on it. Mention that the research was done at UNC if that helps. He may not know about it (just like so many docs don't know about PANDAS and Lyme.)

rowingmom Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 This looks like a good recent article: http://www.nature.com/icb/journal/v90/n1/full/icb2011105a.html#bib17 with lots of references at the end. These two caught my eye however: Choi JH, Nam KH, Kim J, Baek MW, Park JE, Park HY et al. Trichostatin A exacerbates atherosclerosis in low density lipoprotein receptor-deficient mice. Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol 2005; 25: 2404–2409. | Article | PubMed | ISI | ChemPort | Roger T, Lugrin J, Le Roy D, Goy G, Mombelli M, Koessler T et al. Histone deacetylase inhibitors impair innate immune responses to Toll-like receptor agonists and to infection. Blood 2011; 117: 1205–1217. | Article | PubMed | ISI |
