LNN Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 I know some people must roll their eyes when they see my name and the word "methylation". It's a complex topic that I don't do a very good job simplifying. Here's a video that does a good job of explaining the high level importance. Pandas is discussed at min 16. Nice poem at the end.
fightingmom Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Get your tissues ready for the poem. Or maybe I'm just over emotional right now. This was FANTASTIC. A real, easy to follow, laymens presentation. I will keep this one in my bookmarks. Thank you!!

LindaMW Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 That was a truly enlightening video. I wish I could show it to every doctor that I have dealt with in the past 6 months. Especially around 19 minutes in, where she says to listen to the mothers they know their child. Thank you for posting. Linda
MomWithOCDSon Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 If I am rolling my eyes, it's to the Heavens thanking Whoever's Up There for bringing me to this forum and for you, LLM, and your boundless determination and curiousity! You find such gems! Thanks! Great video!

You find such gems! Thanks! Great video! ^what she said!! This is fantastic. Now, if I can only get my boys to watch it. I just forwarded it to them. I've got my fingers crossed that they'll do it (I know when they get sick enough, they might.)
LNN Posted April 14, 2012 Author Report Posted April 14, 2012 Y'all made me blush In addition to your boys, TPotter, I really hope new Pandas parents watch this. If I could turn back the clock, this is the path I wish we'd gone down so much earlier. When I was new to this, my whole focus was on getting abx and making things stop, on suppressing things. I now think the best way to make it stop is to help the body's systems go. Support the body, support methylation, and the body can do a lot to heal itself, which is what it's wanted all along. It sounds really new-agey but this stuff is scientifically sound and makes so much sense to me.
MomtoJake Posted April 14, 2012 Report Posted April 14, 2012 20 well spent minutes, thanks!!!! I've been down the biomedical road with great results, but needed a fresh look at it now with PANDAS thrown into the mix.

Ironically, it's probably the oldest form or medicine. I, too, was gangbusters on the abx hit em hard without a thought to alternatives. Since just before Christmas I have been following many naturopathic remedies. My doctor kept telling my over and over, clean the gut, methylation, glutamate, amino acids, kefir, yeast...I listened. We are doing so much better since we have cleaned up the yeast! Adding in glutathione recycler, nac, selenium, resveratrol, d3, b's. I am not converted to a purist by any means, but there is definitely something to "body heal thyself". We have had the greatest improvement in the past 6 weeks that I have seen in 4 years. God bless all you smart moms!
minimaxwell Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Thank you so much for posting. My DD used to have peeling feet! We were told athletes foot. We are new to all of this,PANS dx 1/24/2012. Now 4 weeks post lVlG and seeing some positive shifts. The gut is my next tackle. I am finding it frustrating that the integrative docs do not take my insurance. we have spent so much $$ already on getting diagnosed and treatment. We live in MA. I am sooo thankful for this forum and learning more and more each day. Huge Thank You!! I promise to pay it forward.
