kim
Chemar, I know in my heart this child has a problem with yeast. I think I have felt like we've had the luxury of taking things slowly, as tics here have been pretty mild/managable for the most part. With no improvement in eating patterns with youngest though, I think it's definitley time to take another step. I had many family members do the spit test. My husband, myself and the boys, my Mom and Dad, my sister and her two kids. I spit in a glass for two weeks straight. I didn't see enough consistency (most all of us had "legs" to one degree or another, except my Mom) My nephew who is one of the most happy go lucky, healthiest, neurotypical people I know, had one of the worst results. I kind of lost faith in the spit test after that. About Bonnie and the mag/cal ratio's, that's interesting. I wonder if at some point in time, she found research that made her change her mind? Maybe I'll drop her an email sometime and see if I get a response. Kim
quan_daniel
Kim, That is a great idea to email Bonnie. I started one dosage of eye q. Supposedly it calms adhd kids, however I notice my child was happier than usual and more hyper. I think his tics increased slightly. I immediately switched back to flax seed. Last couple of days he has been battling multiple nightmares per night usually around 4:58 am..on the dot.. he wakes up..for last 3 night..WEIRD.. take care
kim
Daniel sent me some good stuff he found, on some research showing why fish oil may help some people and may actually increase tics in others. I hope he posts that info. here. Daniel, I'm sorry to hear it doesn't look like the new supplement will work out. Are you sure you gave it enough time. I know you don't want to take a chance on making anything worse, but it's so hard to determine what's helping, short term. Nightmares and waking at the same time. I remember that happening before. Kim Irena, Just something I wanted to quickly mention. I have read several times of parents warning to give plenty of probiotics when treating yeast. Apparently, as yeast die off, you can create a situation where you can get an overgrowth of bacteria (bad kind), so by giving lots of probiotics, your kind of filling the void left by the yeast dieoff, with good strains of bacteria. Just thought that might be worth mentioning. Kim
kim
Claire, So many things in your post that I'd like to discuss with you! Thanks for reminding me about the phone consult with Great Plains. I knew they offered that, but thought it had to be with a practioner, didn't know you could just do it as a parent. Cool. I really want to thank Chemar and everyone who has recommended a chiroprator through these head shaking tics. After my oldest son's adjustment on Fri. he was probably 75% better, I mean immediately after the adjustment. The improvement continued thru out the weekend, and today the huge knot in my stomach is about gone. This was a worse flair than we saw with the staph infection, but much much shorter. I am about throughly convinced, illness has been responsible both times. I wanted to ask you if you have ever read this from Dr. Shaw regarding Metametrix OAT test http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/newev...antquality.html Response...although this has changed from the first time I read it, but this is where the same link takes you. http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_...45/ai_111496962 My Metametrix results show D Arabinitol as marker for Yeast/fungal. Dr. Shaw talks about arabitol..... same marker or not?????? This whole disscussion made me a little leary of relying to heavily on the Met. results for candida. Wondering what you thought. The hair test and your own results with MT promotion, your son's sugar levels (this is something I'm really curious about ...youngest glucose was 90 on last blood test) is all so great to hear. As always, thanks for sharing all of this. Kim
Claire
Kim, Bummer re the Metametrix comments (of course Dr Shaw is behind Great Plains, but still I take it seriously. Plus I think apples to apples is the best comparison, thus Great Plains. Thanks for the post! I will see if Direct Labs will give me a credit for something else. I guess I will have him do the spit test again! No doctor available right now...at my next visit maybe our GP will do Great Plains... I am really curious about both the MT vs the hair test, AND the mercury urine test. I haven't heard back, so I will call France next (really).
