saw a new lyme doctor (infectious disease person) and she said stop the doxy that i have been on for 3 months. she said if it were lyme that were causing all of my symptoms it would have been gone by now with being on doxy for that long. she is doing extensive testing for something else going on. she also said my child could not have gotten her lyme/bartonella from me at birth. my child could have symptoms from me having lyme, but she can not get lyme/bartonella passed down from mother in utero. this is different than what i have been hearing from other sources.

There are 2 conflicting views on lyme disease - IDSA and ILADS. This doc is following IDSA guidelines. I think most of here on this forum subscribe to the ILADS view of lyme. It would be worth your time to research both views and decide for yourself. Also, you might want to PM philamom. Her DD was on 11 months of antibiotic therapy and then had a positive lyme blood culture test. This test cultures the borrelia spirochete directly from your blood sample, so there is no false positive. Lyme survived 11 months of antibiotics in their case.

New doctor is simply corrupt. If you have time aplenty, of course do some research and find plenty of real proof to the contrary. There may well be better ways to treat than doxy, and there may well be other things going on (so that it is not JUST lyme), so do be open to those possibilities, but would be more worthwhile to consider those possibilities with someone honest.

Yes, after a year of lyme treatment (10mths of combo), my daughter had a positive lyme blood culture. She was also on a year of prophylactic (half strength) antibiotics prior for PANDAS which may have made treating the lyme more difficult.
