I also emailed a different reporter at wham.

Mass hysteria? Seriously? I guarantee they wouldn't say this if they weren't girls.

I also emailed Dr. T. He is on it and is addressing the issue.

It's outrageous!

Something IS going on, can they really do this?!

Are you telling me that not even 1 parent of the 12 isn't speaking out?

Mass hysteria- so unbelievably insulting. When I read that link, it basically said to me:

'They are all making it up.'

And wait. They get to treat a 17 year old, and the parent says:

'They didn't tell me the diagnosis.'

What?!

Are they getting paid?

I don't get it.

I did just read one of the parents did speak up on Wednesday night-

He said his daughter is very affected, has been out of school for a month,

has a tutor, can no longer drive, he is very worried about her future.

She is being treated by. Neurologist, but no diagnosis has been given.

(and it sounds like no improvement.)

Wow.

Is that the guy Dupont from this article http://www.democratandchronicle.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2012120112005 ?

I still don't understand how they can treat while keeping the parents in the dark??? Fishy fishy fishy. Unless they are treating by playing symptomatic whack a mole (as neurologists so often do). But, then the article says:

"I can assure you these children have all been seen by professionals that have come up with answers and they are all being treated and they're actually doing pretty well," said Dr. Greg Young, with the New York state Department of Health.

and then the article goes on:

Some parents at the meeting were not satisfied by the response they got from officials. Jim DuPont said afterward that his daughter has missed almost every day of school in the past month.

"Now she has to be tutored," said DuPont. "And I worry about her future. She's only 17. She can't even drive now." DuPont said his daughter is being treated by a neurologist, but still hasn't gotten a diagnosis.

DuPont says she has never exhibited any symptoms like this before. "It's heartbreaking because you know her normal mannerisms," he said.

So according to the state official (Young) they are "all doing pretty well" ....but then Dupont's dd still can't go to school or drive? How is that "pretty well"?

Dr. Siller said, “This is not Tourette’s Syndrome in the classical sense. You know, in the old days, we would really refer to this as something like mass hysteria, where we’re really implying that if you look at the comments from Associate Commissioner Greg Young, that these are probably stress-related. We use the term conversion disorder in today’s terms where these are probably stress and anxiety-induced physical symptoms. I mean these patients are really showing something physically but the cause of it is not a real medical condition.”

THIS MAKES NO SENSE! they are showing something physically "but the cause of it is not a real medical condition"     So it's just a bunch of stressed out hysterical girls and the seizures/tics are all in their heads? Give me a break.

FOX just aired a segment on it with A Dr. Siegal weighing in. He stated he has NO DOUBT what this is. He went on to say it is caused by a strep infection (described and named PANDAS) and it is treated with antibiotics!! WOW! National coverage via a major news network. Now you know the parents have to be aware....now it is in their hands to be proactive and not buy the bull that is being handed to them. (which that James Dupont doesn't seem to be buying!)

Was this article already posted? http://www.13wham.com/guides/health/story/Le-Roy-Parents-Want-Answers-About-Mysterious/6p6ryOqwuESjK31uHuSqCg.cspx

Here are some quotes:

Dupont believes that the health department doesn’t truly know what’s going on.

“The girls all go to the same neurologist and there is no diagnosis,” Dupont says. “They don't know what's causing it. That’s why we're all here at this meeting. It's not getting any better, and they can't share a diagnosis because there is no diagnosis right now.”

and (yes it sounds like they are doing whack a mole)

13WHAM spoke to a parent of a girl with the tic symptoms who did not wish to be named. He, too, told us that he did not get a diagnosis from doctors.

“There has to be more to it,” says Dupont. “There has to be a cause, a common denominator. I always thought that we could get together with the families of the girls who have this and go through their daily routines and maybe find something that they've all done… Right now, they’re giving her shots in the neck or muscle relaxers and that does help, but they're treating the symptoms not the cause.”

and it sounds like they are trying to tell parents it's Conversion Disorder

A parent of a Le Roy student who developed tic-like symptoms said his daughter was told she suffers from Conversion Disorder.

Don Miller said his daughter's doctor diagnosed her with the disorder.

Conversion Disorder is defined as a neurological disorder that can be brought on by stress with symptoms that include numbness, paralysis, and inability to speak.

AND HOW IS IT THAT "CONVERSION DISORDER" (the disease previously known as "Hysteria") is not touted as controversial while PANDAS/pitands is????? -_- -_- -_- -_- -_- -_-

Is there a link?

by the way, I wonder if Lyme is playing a role here too.

That would be another reason why the state officials would want to keep everything hush hush.
