sf_mom Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Attached is a very good video by Dr. Klinghardt discussing KPU/HPU. Some of you may have seen the video already... its long but worth the watch. Video towards the bottom of page. http://planetthrive.com/2010/04/hpukpu-protocol-for-lyme-and-autism/ Both my older DS and myself test positive for KPU via ART. Our son started treatment and will update once I have better perspective on herx response. -Wendy Edited June 20, 2011 by SF Mom
Suzan Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) Oh Wendy! Please keep me updated as dd8 is about to be treated for this as well. I was just looking up more information to try to see if I should be tested or treated too (or dd9 as well). Our LLMD is not testing dd8 since she has an overwhelming number of symptoms and will just start a trial treatment plan. I have some symptoms but not like dd8. Did you have a lot of the symptoms that are talked about? Or how did you decide to do the test? You tested via ART... this is different than the urine test that is talked about right? Susan PS... very afraid of the herx/metal dumping for dd8. Edited June 19, 2011 by Suzan
sf_mom Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) Susan, Yes, over the last couple of weeks we did ART or similar testing with older DS, DH and myself which showed KPU for myself and DS. We have not gotten all of DH results yet. We did not do the urine test. I've got some of the classic symptoms. Older DS most recognizable KPU symptom would be dark circles under his eyes and chapped lips. Both symptoms have come and gone throughout treatment. Most recently they have both resurfaced... typically happens with herx. They already seem improved but we've also stopped one antibiotic due to yellow of eyes and potential climbing liver enzymes. He does seem more edgy since starting but several new herbs were added too. He also had a severe stomach ache last night that I thought we were going to have to run him to the hospital. It was very scary but I am not sure if he wasn't also tired. Thankfully it passed with some Advil and Tums but I've never seen him like that 'double over and crying'. Today he is fine. Again, I think I'll have a better perspective over the next couple of weeks on how bad it can be. -Wendy Edited June 20, 2011 by SF Mom
GraceUnderPressure Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Where is the video link? Am I missing it? (And what is KPU/HPU?)
sf_mom Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 Sorry, just posted link in original post. KPU is essentially one's ability to detox... Video explains it well.
Suzan Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 (edited) Where is the video link? Am I missing it? (And what is KPU/HPU?) I also had another post about KPU and posted this article which is good. You can't search on a three letter word so I'm thinking maybe we should put this KPU stuff in one of the sticky posts. Fixed link. http://www.betterhealthguy.com/joomla/images/stories/PDF/kpu_klinghardt_explore_18-6.pdf Edited June 20, 2011 by Suzan

We never did the treatment on my son because he got better and my llmd was doing other things and it was too many supplements. I think the dentist recommended some supplement including taurine. I'd have to look it up to get all the info but my llmd told me that one of those supplements in high doses could really upset your stomach. The dentist told me that it is a big problem for many patients. ART is pretty amazing stuff. BTW am pretty sure that I was told by my llmd that Tums have aluminum in them and to avoid taking them. I am doing the heavy metal detox for mercury and aluminum. I bet the infrared sauna helps with detox. Keep us posted on your progress! Very interested...
sf_mom Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 Susan, This particular link is not working. By they way, DH saw the BHG for ART like testing. I had no idea he was local to us until he was referred.... DH and him made a great connection as their his real jobs are in the same industry. Wellness is now his hobby. I give him a lot of credit for putting the information out there. I have searched his website numerous times. -Wendy

mama2alex Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 Thanks for posting these articles! This is something we are starting to look into. Our DAN doc mentioned it and I brought it up at our last LLMD appt, but it was sort of glossed over with no real plan for looking into it. So I'm going back to the DAN doc on Monday to see if he will do the testing and oversee any treatment needed. I'm curious if anyone knows why you need to test for HPL and not just look for B6, zinc and other deficiencies. Also, do these things need to be supplemented indefinitely, or does everything balance out and start working properly once the chronic lyme and metal toxicity have been taken care of? Thanks again for posting about this. My gut feeling is this may be a missing piece of the puzzle for us, and possibly many others on this forum.
philamom Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Is anyone ordering the urine test mentioned in the above article for this? Can it be done with children? thx
Suzan Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I have ordered the test for me and my two girls. You can have children tested. Be sure to follow the instructions given my Dr. Klinghardt not what comes with the test. I will be sure to post our experience and results. We have stopped all vitamins and will test next week or the week after. Susan

Suzan Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Thanks Susan. I have to read the articles again but do you need a doctors script for the urine test? The place I ordered from required the doc's name, phone and fax #'s. They will run the test and send to the doctor. But I did not need to give them anything else up front. This is where I got it from. I could not get the vitamin diagnostic info for some reason. I hope this works just as well. http://www.pyroluriatesting.com/?page=shop/browse&category_id=2&CLSN_1407=13088633411407ddefc07aba408a1239
