Both DS and I have elevated liver enzymes (I'm waiting to get my recent test back to see if it's changed.) DS is taking milk thistle and ALA and I am taking just the ALA, because I had an allergic reaction to the milk thistle.

DS's liver enzymes have been checked 3 times now, and they keep going UP. Mine have been checked 2X, but I don't have the latest ones back.

DS is now off all abx, except azith, because the oral abx have not been making any difference on the apparent lyme/bartonella (he appears to have the rash, but WB was negative. LLMD said to get Igenex, so we are just sending that off tomorrow. He had to stop taking doxy several months ago, because of a pancreatitis attack from it, but he was on plaquinil the past months, and flaggyl the month or two before that (plus alternating between augmentin XR and azith.

I'm currently taking azith (for mycoP) and doxy.

Yikes...anyone know what to do? I'm really getting scared by this.

DS's AST went from 46 last month to 48 this month. And, his ALT when from 57 to 83!

Also, protein and globulin are slightly elevated.

I can't find my numbers, but they were elevated, too. LLMD is the one who told us to take milk thistle and ALA.

Thanks for your help.

A couple other things you might try, anyway:

- NAC (n-acetyl cysteine)

- I think some Buhner herbs may help support detox process, red root is one of them you might try (if you have his book, you might look through it with particular coinfections/symptoms in mind)

Using NAC. Will look into the Buhner herbs (haven't heard of this, but I'll research it it tomorrow and Tuesday while the DSs are getting IVIG.

My dd's liver enzymes were also slightly abnormal this last time. We decided to try having her go off Fluconazole and see if she could manage it. So far, she's been off it a week and is doing okay. I've upped the probiotics hoping to prevent yeast. I've also started giving her Inositol becasue it's liver detoxifying. Not sure if that should help or not but I'm hoping it will at least help with detox. I just read that CoQ10 can possibly raise liver enzymes, but we just started giving that, so its not the culprit. My dd also tested positive for Lupus at her visit with Dr. J. We need to do more testing at her next visit to rule it in or rule it out. I believe I've read that Lupus can also cause Liver enzymes to be elevated. :(

If you want to venture out and see an ND, there are homeopathic UNDAS (not sure which ones) that cleanse the liver and kidneys.

Also, my DS13 is using a nebulizer with "Tri-Quench" from Scientific Botanicals, Inc. 4 drops with water in the evening for Myco/Chlam and his lungs are slowly getting better. It has iodine in it which is an anti-bacterial. His ND says it will take about a year of treatment to heal. Since treatment started, he has had no cough (had a chronic one before), and a tic in his throat area has disappeared.

Hope you find some answers soon!
