My daughter is on tinidazole for 2 of every 7 days. I give it with food, but she is having a hard time with it. For those 2 days, and perhaps the first day off, she complains of a tummy ache and wants to eat all day long. She says she's hungry, but I tend to think that the food just settles her stomach. She's also getting probiotics and Sacro-B.

Is anyone else having this trouble with tinidazole or metronidazole? Any suggestions?

Thanks so much.

Herx's can include stomach aches... and obviously its happening right after the tindamax has been taken so its most likely a herx response. You can give up to 8 pills: activated charcoal, bentonite clay or children's chewable Pepto Bismal at night before bed 2 hours away from antibiotics to help. Especially on the days she takes tindamax.

My daughter has been taking tinidazole also, and it makes her very tired. She eats all the time too, and has put on about 10 pounds since Sept., but she is like that during the week as well, so perhaps all the abx do that. (they do that to me too). Also makes her legs and back hurt...

It really bothered my DD when she was taking it daily bid. But since reducing it to 3 days bid and taking bentonite in the afternoon it has not bothered her stomach.

Is that one of those medications that also kills parasites? I know so little about parasites but they r apparently common w lyme patients and i wondered if it could be killing some in her gut. Sounds like some sort of die off reaction either way.

I am going through pretty bad stomach stuff the last few days, as we recently added ketek to my tindamax and factive, and that I think it's finally killing stuff in that area.

But I have a different theory on the eating all day. Every time I add a new drug, with lots of fresh killing, I need more probiotics and more minerals, and I really think this is the yeast growing out of control--from the killing of lyme, not just die-off of bad bacteria, because it settles down after a week or two. For example, I am needing much much less probiotics and nystatin than I ever have during treatment now that I am taking THREE abx at the same time. I think this yeast growth causes blood sugar issues, which people tend to interpret as hunger, because you do feel that way. But, the problem can be solved with probiotics and (with meals) minerals supporting blood sugar maintenance (such as zinc, chromium, and vanadium).

Of course, eating too much can cause stomach aches, as well.

i'm sorry i don't understand....you're saying you don't need as much nystatin but your having yeast (over)growth?

or are you saying that the combo of abx now..with the probis and minerals are keeping it at bay
