That's a good place! Thanks, Tami

Do they do the cookie thing at this Doubletree? When I told her that is where we were staying she said "You mean The CookieTree Hotel? ALRIGHT!!!"

Hi Jill... yes, please get that pap smear done! I missed last year myself and 2 years of Mammograms! Ugh! ...and being a nurse, you know I know better! :( I had to go back for diagnostic on the Mammo, but it all turned out ok after diagnostic & ultrasounds.... hope all is well with you too! :)

Ok, so for food... one of my favorite topics - lol: Doubletree has really good cookies!!! I guess everyone who has stayed there knows about those already! Bummer, we are not there now... they were booked & we had to move to another place once our flight was canceled and we found we'd be staying longer to try to do IVIG while here.

We ate at Friendly's last night (she got to choose) and it was good.

Dr. B's office gave us a couple of delivery menus and we had them deliver right to his office today while waiting for answers on the insurance approval for her IVIG. Gosh, can't even remember the name of the place now - they were both Italian delivery places.

Bertuccis... thanks for the tip on that, Tami... we will need something this evening & tomorrow! :)

hahahaa Jill!! They had cookies yesterday, were out this am and had warm, fresh ones this afternoon! Delicious!! :)

There is an aquarium in the area? Oh, how nice... maybe we'll go check out that .... and I love al types of food - the Thai place sounds good - thanks Kara!

Oh, a Friendly's too? That is dd's favorite! Mostly bcs of ice cream and part sentimental; my husband and I met both working at a Friendly's 24 years ago.....geez that makes me sound like an ole toot!!!

Judy had mentioned a swimming pool at the DoubleTree, but that if she was going to leave the first day with the capped IV line (I forget what its called), then she couldn't swim. I guess I'll leave it up to her if she wants to get poked twice. I was planning on bringing the EMLA cream for her hand anyway.

Aww, that's sweet, Jill! I know the feeling about sounded old... a hs friend of mine lost her DH after almost 28 years of marriage last week. When I saw the actual number, I felt kinda old myself! ;p

Oh... and Nancy... I see the CD 57 test on the IGeneX kit now, but he did not order that one for her.

Yep, DD11 informed me Doubletree has a heated pool. I would have been happier to stay there another night - it's really nicer than where we are tonight, but this will be ok - the important thing is getting her well. :)

If I knew that you needed another night at the double tree....I would have contacted you before calling and cancelling our room there for tonight. We are stuck between flights in a dump in Atlanta!

Yeah 3boysmom, I'm so glad Dr. B will fit you in later. Hope to meet you.

Jill, my daughter started texting (she has that free program in her iPod too) and she realized all her friends were in school so could not text. :-( But like you it's so cool to see that she has many friends with whom she wants to text. Could not say that 2 years ago!

Also, there is restaurant here in the hotel if you don't feel up to going out. And my favorite...there is a brand new Whole Foods only 5 minutes from Dr. B's office. Good luck next week!

Hi Denise,

So glad your appointment went well and that you like Dr. B. I would like to see your 4 pages of questions if u don't mind sharing. I could send u an email. How is your daughter handling being away from home?

Good point, Nancy...in school is exactly where they will be. I guess she'll have to wait til she gets back to the hotel.

I could just die in Whole Foods!

Did your dd fall asleep at all? Mine slept the first day, but not the second back in May. But Dr. K makes you get there at 7am, so maybe that is why?

One other question, do you definitely get to see Dr. B one of the two days? I have a small list of follow-up questions.

off topic- but wanted to mention there's a Barnes & Nobles 5 min. down the road...and also a bowling alley (for the night before the infusion). I haven't done the bowling though.

And don't forget the hot apple cider & hot chocolate served with the cookies!

Jag- I had my annual ob/gyn scheduled for today (3 years behind) --cancelled due to snow...now I have to wait another 2 months. :o

OMG, Melinda, you're worse than me!!! Ok, sister, we are holding each other accountable for our girly visits! Meanwhile, my PCP's office called a couple of months ago asking if I was still a patient cuz I hadn't been there since 07

I told Johnsmom, watch...I'll finally get dd11 fully healthy and functional and then I'll keel over.

I just diagnose myself these days! LOL

If anyone (or spouse) is a hitlon honors member (they own doubletree), there is a concierge lounge on the upper floor which serves a light breakfast & dinner. The server is VERY friendly.

The aquarium is called "Maritime". It's not too big which is nice...can be done in about 2 hours. We really enjoyed it! There is also the Stamford Mall (7 floors--I think) heading south on I-95 from the Darien office. We have stopped there on our way back to Philly.

Jag10, you do get to see Dr. B on one of the two days. We did not see him today but hope to tomorrow. Typically my daughter never sleeps during IVIg but she did sleep today for about an hour. Then she slept another two hours after we came back to the hotel.

Bummer...PhilaMom, I am a Hilton Honors member and did not know about the upper floor. Will have to try them in the morning for breakfast.
