Fixit Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 yah..don't get informed from the other direction.. though i have to say ....each individual teacher we've had over the years, is awesome and we email regularly i actually had a conf early feb last year ..and was told the exact same thing..how can it be too late..we still had almost 4 full months to go??? it's only so funny because its too on target...
peglem Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 I've been told that the psychologist they brought in as a consultant (since he was not school staff, he could tell me to medicate )was very smart....but he didn't have a beard! Honestly, this vid was too much like many meetings I've had!
sf_mom Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 Thanks for posting. Forwarded to my girlfriend who has her first IEP meeting tomorrow. I am sure she will walk into her meeting now with a light heart and a knowing sense of humor about the potential outcome.
airial95 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 My husband and I have been texting each other random quotes from this throughout the day...classic! My husband has a beard, at our next meeting I'll have to remind them that it makes him the smartest guy in the room!
airial95 Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 If we're lucky - he can be quite the jerk sometimes...but only when he has to be
MomWithOCDSon Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 My husband has a beard, at our next meeting I'll have to remind them that it makes him the smartest guy in the room! What a great idea! My DH has a beard, too, so we'll just designate him "The Einstein" of the group, and what he says, will go. Unfortunately, he won't make anyone cry, though; that's usually my job. In almost any "Good Cop/Bad Cop" scenario, he's always the good cop -- comes by it naturally with his sweet disposition. I'm the cynical, battle-worn, crusty old geezer who takes no prisoners and doesn't suffer fools lightly!
wornoutmom Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 Survived the 3 hour IEP....just barely. Actually they were pretty great. We had an official document from the psychiatrist with a PANDAS diagnosis for the first time, and the director of special ed said she went to the NIHM website FAQs last night to read up on it as she's never heard of it before (of course). She said it was very "interesting". I stifled a laugh and said that wouldn't be my adjective of choice but, yes, it is much more than just OCD. The funniest moment came from the school social worker, who asked if I had difficulty finding a specialist to treat ds. I almost just peed my pants right there. But the highlight was when she said she was going to have to go tot he web and read up on it (ok - she's been his social worker for 2 years now!) and the director told her to be careful which websites she looked at because some of them said PANDAS was "controversial and unproven", and didn't give the correct information. She got a gold star. Then I gave them the appropriate websites...
tpotter Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 OMG. That could not have been a more accurate depiction of our 3 year battle with our school district. They finally agreed to settle, and then (after the "summer") we had to take them right back to mediation!! That was absolutely hysterical. Thanks for sharing it. I think I'll go to bed now, laughing.
