sf_mom Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Geez..... I know you are on the right track to get her well. The results hopefully provide some perspective on why she has been so sick. There is true healing ahead as you eliminate each infection. Did Dr. J run the tests for your daughter?
KeithandElizabeth Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Okay Melinda, now you have to start "peeling the onion" on each infection. Our son also had numerous infections (lyme, strep, mycoplasma bartonella, a parasite and babesia) and we saw improvement as we treated each infection. Although it felt so scary to know that so many bacterias, viruses and parasites are living in your child, at least you now know what you are dealing with and you can get rid of them. It has been very bumpy, but as we get rid of each infection, we keep seeing a happier and healthier child. Sometimes, we will see symptoms that we have not seen in a long time, but they are always short lived and our son's overall percentage improvement gets higher every month. We will be here for you! Elizabeth
PacificMama Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Hi Melinda, The good news is that you now have identified the enemy! For your daughter to turn up with all this conclusive lab work will help the docs keep you going on the correct protocol. As Elizabeth said, to start peeling back the layers. And as Wendy said too, this is why your poor daughter has been so sick. I do believe that Dr. Corson mentioned in her presentation last week about RMSF, and it's prevalence in Pennsylvania. I don't remember the details. It's wonderful that you are already under care, but perhaps it's worth getting on her waiting list since she is closer to you? Your daughter (like so many others) is really a poster child for the importance of getting the full range of testing done along with a proper evaluation. One tick bite can really pack a whallop. And thank you for posting the lab names! It's really important for people to see that the testing extends beyond Igenex / Borrelia. We look forward to your update. Mary
sptcmom Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Hi Melinda DS8 also had RMSF Igg that was considered high as it was = 1:64 and Quest reference range is less than 1:64. Dr Jones didnot treat it at this time. But yes, I agree with Elizabeth, its a sick feeling in the pit of your stomach to discover this little child has had so many viruses and bacteria and parasites inside that little body God knows for how long BUT atleast we know and are able to treat it. The road is bumpy but rewarding too. We have had to struggle with relapses, exposures just like everyone else along the way but I do see a healthier child emerging slowly but surely. Our children are such complex little people with complex immune systems. It baffles me how all this, all these infections could've happened inspite of being so on top of everything including hygiene, handwashing etc all these years. Never knew what the heck was festering and growing in that little body.

Elizabeth Elizabeth, So when you have all these things going, do they treat them in a particular order or all at once? How does this work?
KeithandElizabeth Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 Well, I think every LLMD may treat things a little differently. Our LLMD also treats each person differently based on how strong their immune system is and how many infections are active at the time. For instance, our LLMD started my daughter on an intense regime to deal with every infection at once, but he went slower with our son because he was so sick and he did not feel that he would tolerate such an intense treatment. So, I do not think there is a specific order in terms of treatment. Sometimes, if a person has many infections, some of the microbes are suppressed by the other microbes in order to keep the host alive. Hence, many LLMD's will continue to check the bloodwork throughout treatment in order to make sure that they are catching all of the potential coinfections. Elizabeth
MichaelTampa Posted October 21, 2010 Report Posted October 21, 2010 There are a number of views, and each doctor and patient may be a little different. Some want to treat the problem that is most holding the person back from handling the bugs on their own. Some want to start where the problem started, what first created symptoms (even if it was years ago). Then, there are practicalities, like the quinolones used to treat bartonella can be made less effective by prior treatments for babesia, which means there may be good reason to babesia first. Some really feel it is difficult to make progress with lyme before dealing with the parasites/worms.
sptcmom Posted October 22, 2010 Report Posted October 22, 2010 Thank you all for the support! sptcmom- Did Dr. J mention why it doesn't need to be treated? I feel a little relieved hearing this. I hope to speak to his office today to get more answers. She also has elevated liver enzymes, elevated ptt LA screen, high normal glucose, and low level of carbon dioxide. He did explain but I don't remember. He called with ALL the results all at once and I was focusing on Bartonella and things he wanted to treat. He said no treatment needed for RMSF and HHV6 both.
