Rick43
Hi everyone. I'm really starting to see some improvements for my tics (vocal/motor ) with the bontec, elimination diet, and other suggested supplements such as taurine, Epsom salt baths, etc. No perfect, but I believe improvements are coming. However, I'm still seeing issues with my OCD, and have been sticking very close to my 10g a day of inositol... I take it 2x a day and not with meals -- also at separate times from other supps. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions to improve the OCD? The inositol does seem to be good, but some days it seems pretty ineffective. I suspect their may be additional supplements someone may know of that work. Thanks, rick
Chemar
hi Rick have you tried the Lemon Balm tea ? I have it listed in one of the later updates on my son's treatments. there are other supps that help OCD, like tryptophan, 5HTP, methionine, samE etc but as you are on a relatively high dose of Inositol, these may have too dramatic effect (serotonin spiking) if added in with it. An adult can go up to 16 grams of inositol for up to 6 weeks to bring OCD under control. personally, I would try the lemon balm tea, as well as cantaloupe and limes, which are the foods with high inositol as mentioned in my last update, my son now uses only teas and food for his needed TS/OCD nutrients
patty
Chemar, How long does it take for the inositol to kick in & help w/OCD? About 2 weeks ago, I started my son at about 300mg/day and now has worked up to 600 mg/day. So far he has slight improvement on "turning the faucet handles on & off" and "erasing his writing", while other OCD seem to remain the same. Should i give it more time before i add the B6 in the P5P form? Thx! Pat
Chemar
Hi Patty if he does not already have a good B6 intake then it is usually recommended that it be taken along with inositol as it is required for proper absorption and conversion ie inositol does not work as well in the absence of B6 500-1000mg is usual dose but in acute OCD episodes one can go as high a 16 GRAMS short term(no more than 6 weeks)
