  1. My dd12 started Lamictal for mood when she was 11. It has been her wonder drug. We tried many before finding this one. But remember every child will react diff to medications. Our side effect was she would become tired at noon, but with a 1.5 hr nap, she would be back up and going
  2. I took my dd12, 7th grade, out of private school this year and we are using K12. They send parent workbooks with answers to each subject. You also have real teachers whom you can K-mail, or call personally for any help. So far we are making passing grades, and I'm not smarter than a 2nd grader
  3. My dd8 also did not like her psychiatrist in the start, she would walk in and lay face down on the couch refusing to look or answer anything the Dr. ask'd. It was very frustrating, but really showed our Dr. that we had serious problems ! After 2 yrs of visits, our dd10 started to loosen up and actually sit on the couch for a few minutes to answer questions as long as she could go play right after. Now at 4 yrs, our dd12 will actually sit and talk to her Dr. Everything that deals with treatment or help with PANDAS is slow moving. It takes time. Hang in there And Celexa proved to be our best friend over all the rest. But remember that every child can respond diff to each medication.
  4. Thanks, I have a friend who has a granddaughter that exhibits PANDAS symptoms, but when she told me she had been diagnosed with R A, It shook me a lil, remembering I had read about PANDAS and R A somewhere. I'm sure it was prob about the fact they are both autoimmune disorders. Thanks again.
  5. Does RA have any connection to PANDAS or PANDAS symptoms ?
  6. Melatonin was our only help. We used the strawberry fast dissolve 3 mg, and usually had to give 2 tablets. (12yrs old) We went through the same problem with sleep cycle. It eventually went away and resolved, but I still keep this wonder sleep aid in our med cabinet all the time for those occasional insomnia nights.
  7. Im one of the very fortunate ones and have 3 children, and only one with PANDAS, the youngest is 7.
  8. Something else we added for dd's extreme violent rage was anger therapy, with a great therapist once a week. DD actually enjoyed going, because we found a seriously great therapist that made it fun for her, and it did help 50/50. Costly, but it did help us.
  9. I PM'd you a short story of improvement with my dd's puberty.
  10. not it, but close. Tnks.
  11. Can you help me find an interesting article I recently read that I have seemed to misplace. It is about pandas being categorized into 3 levels. Mild, Moderate, and Severe. I really need to find this article ! I know it was on one of the most used networks we all read. I first thought pandasnetwork. Thanks
  12. buspar did absolutly nothing for us, Gabapentin aggravated ocd's and phobias for dd11.
  13. I am forever grateful we did this testing on our dd 9 at the time. We found a top pediatric neuropsychiatric dr that our insurance paid for, ($2500) Not only have we used this "very, very" detailed report for her 504 plan at school, but with her therapist, psychiatrist, neurologist, and pediatrician. I have copies on me for when we have to go to the er, for the er dr's to get a quick understanding of who she is. I have copies of every lab, hospital records, test, etc. and this report is by far the most important piece of my file. It also helped me to understand her much better.
  14. My dd 11 is VERY odd with her father, sister, brother, and ofcoarse especially me. We r in a private school, she refuses to go. We fought through public school up till this new school year with a 504 and a very great group of faculty at that school. We are running out of options here. We could also send her to a middle jr high school, but she would run away from there for sure, like really run away, she does this all the time in times of confussion and fear, threat. She has not learned anything in the last 3 years, my other thought is special ed classes, this really upsets my husband when i bring it up, but with the "high enlopement" threat, I think it might be a safer way, and I can see her "helping" the kids in that class, which would boost confidence. I think if i try to homeschool her, i will lose money in that just like we are in the private school. she is impossible !
  15. absulutley true for my dd. One fearful event was so bad we ended up in a psychiatric hospital 3 days after bc she was so traumatized by it. We are very cautious with "fears." We have had too many episodes to mention.
  16. T.Mom, thanks, thats all I needed to hear! I thought so.
  17. My dd was on omnicef, no results, ( for pandas) so then we tried augmentin, again, no results. She was recently on amoxicilian for strep, and had the best 10 days of our lives. So I tell this to our "non pandas dr" who is treating her for pandas, and ask for a trial of amoxicillian. Her response was if the augmentin didnt work, then the amoxicillian wouldnt either because the augmentin is made up of amoxicillian and some stronger stuff added. I already knew this, but could it be that for some reason she will respond to the amoxicillian instead of augmentin? We lost and she wouldnt even consider trying it, told us we would have to go back to florida to get the script ! We are in Tenn ! Nice
  18. dd was strep free, she is neg for mycoplasma pneumonia, "hot" as in severe hot flashes, and she takes advil. Mom-me, THANKYOU so much for that site. I believe every child responds diff to everything in life, and some may have flare ups with sugar, but most may not, just as diff meds, etc. work diff for each individual. I've talked to some of my close pandas mom's and they also see sugar as a threat. So in conclusion of my question, knowing about the sugar inflamation process, and hearing everyones thoughs, I believe that sugar was def why dd was pulling hair out for one day only. I always limit her intake seriously, but the day before she was not with me, and consumed way to much. However, our psych. added prozac at our visit bc thats what they do! They would rather thro more meds to them, then believe a parent who lives with this horrid dissorder 24/7 ! Thanks everyone.
  19. my dd 11 had a "bipolar" type change after I got her after school and imediatly started screamming she was hot and kicking the dash in my car. This is very, very common, but the hot spells always indicates somethings brewing. It wasnt 10 min and she started pulling her hair out in clumps, with NO PAIN. It was killing me, she continued for about 3 hours, stating she couldnt stop, then as we went to parent teacher conference she made a turn around and was "just ok", but has not pulled her hair at all since then. She had gone to the zoo with her school the day before, had LOTS of sugary foods, then cake at church that night. I keep sugar away from her because it causes extreme hyperactivity and aggression. I'm thinking maybe the sugar triggered this hair pulling????? Nothing else has change. Just finised amoxicillian for strep, but seems strep free. Any thoughts? We have never had an ocd that lasted just a few hours and then gone.
  20. Do you use any kind of fish oil in the diet? That turned us away from it, it was so bad.
  21. Dedee took my words right out of my mouth! My dd 11 is a vegetarian, since 9 yrs old! She has the sensory issues with the food not feeling right in her mouth, too thick, too thin, too crunchy, but she flat out refuses to eat anything that was once living and breathing just bc thats "mean." I add what i can without her knowing, such as benefiber, etc. but she's always questioning if i put something in it, and if she thinks for a minute i have, then she refuses. She is VERY underweight, the most helpful supplement I've been able to use is "bear milk" pediasure, but cost is high. It's OCD for sure.
  22. Thankyou all, it helps so much, unfortunatley, that others are seeing the same thing I do, I'm still "questioning" pandas, I need to stop, we have been diagnoised by way to many experts for me to question it, I just need to hear others have the same problems. My heart goes out to you in thanks, and for dealing with the horrible aggression that is so dangerous to us all. God Bless you.
  23. My dd 11yrs, has in the past year, (pandas/pitand for 3yrs.) had increase rage, aggression, and mental status changes with positive strep. Where as before, it was increase in ocd's, tics, etc. I'm wondering if this is familiar with anyone else. She is never "normal" at any time, but the aggression is very severe with strep and a danger to her and others. Just a curious question, bc I know most have increase with tics, and ocd's usually with strep. Thanks.
  24. Can I give my dd culturelle probiotics along with her celexa and tenex?
