  1. Thank you for your replies. I took my son to GP for bright red throat and swollen tonsils (neither of which hurt) and he put him on Augmentin. For the first time in 10 months, we had a significant response to an antibiotic. And it was within 48 hours we noticed a difference. He was on it for 2 weeks. When the two weeks was up and we went a few days not on any abx all symptoms came roaring back. He was put back on Augmentin but not as strong of a dose and again, improvement, but not enough. He is now on a higher dose and making progress. That's why I'm curious to see what the average is on how long the higher doses may be needed before we back down. I don't want to pull back too soon, but at the same time, the dose makes me nervous. Thank you for any input.
  2. Hi, I am new to this forum but have been reading a lot. (lots of great info!) I know every person responds differently to medicine, and I'm just trying to get some idea on what to expect. We've been dealing with Lyme for almost a year now (took 5 years to diagnose), and recently discovered the strep connection. Approximately how long was/is your child been on the high dose antibiotic before going to the prophylactic dose? Also, how often do you give your child ibuprofin/motrin? I've been given names of a few Dr's in my area to see, but I'm just trying to get a grasp on all of this before we go. School starts in a week and I'm a nervous wreck. Any advice you are willing to share with me would be greatly appreciated!
  3. I know this question wasn't directed for me to answer, but from what I have seen, a lot of Lyme parents do not know about PANDAS/PITAND. I have read several posts on a Lyme site from parents who have children that appear to have PANDAS type symptoms, or have noticed a strep connection, but don't seem to put the two together. Bartonella can mirror a lot of the symptoms as well though. A LOT of adults with Lyme also have chronic sore, red throats.
  4. My son was afraid for a few years, and we tried every tactic we could think of, but nothing worked, it was clearly something he did not want to do so we let it go. Then one day, some friends were over with their son who is younger than ours, and he was watching him for awhile and then he just decided to jump in and do it. He now swims like a fish!
  5. Oh well then you are doing great! Hopefully there will be more suggestions for you. I'll watch your post too since I am always looking for ways to reduce inflammation, even for myself. susan Thanks!! Is there a particular brand of Omega 3 you recommend? And how much do you try to give? We are currently using Coromega 3 that comes in the little packets 2 x day, but if you have found something better, I'm all ears.
  6. Oh yes, I forgot to mention that we have been gluten free for 3 years, done allergy testing and the food elimination diet. We don't have any dairy, gluten, try to always eat organic, and really stick to a clean diet with all the meds we are on and bc of Lyme. I really like that link though - thanks!
  7. Hello, I was wondering if anyone could share anything that they have noticed that helps reduce inflammation? (in addition to abx and Motrin). We seem to be battling so much inflammation and I'd love to hear any suggestions on things that may also help. We are also battling late stage Lyme as well. So far, I have found that epsom salt baths have a calming effect, massage therapy really helps with headaches and pupil dilation and gargling with salt water to help ward off any other germs all seem to help a great deal, but I'd love to hear about anything else you've noticed that doesn't involve more pills! Thank you!
  8. Hi, I am new to this Board, but have done a lot of reading. I am trying to find a Dr in the DFW area that can diagnose and treat PANDAS. I'd love to hear any advice as well. Thanks!
