My daughter got herself into trouble at school today. This is the first time she has ever had an issue at school. She LOVES school to death and the teachers are even baffled on this one. It is completely and totally out of her character!!! She pushed a girl today while they were in the playground. She did not have an argument with this girl or anything. She was not even playing with her!!! My 5 year old daughter just went up to her and pushed her!!!! She pushed her hard enough for the other girl to fall and cut her LIP!! I had a long talk with my daughter after the incident and I really ecpected to hear that maybe she did not like the girl or the girl did something to her prior to it all...just something that would make sense. instead she repeated to me several times and even told her teacher that she did not want to do it or mean to do it but her brain told her to do it. A few months back my daughter used to tell me that her brain was telling her to say bad words. I thought nothing of it at the time until all this stuff started. Could this be bad thoughts in her head that are linked with ocd??? I am not sure if she has Ocd. She absouleltly has sensory issues and tics (motor and now vocval) but this is a first and I can tell my daughter was completely telling me the truth. It was almost lately as if she turned into a whole completely different person. She does have an attitude at times but mostly she is just the sweetest little thing. Kind and gentle. nothing like what she has been acting like. She also said today sshe had a sore throat but never mentioned it again afterwards. I am REALLY worried about this bad thought thing.............has anyone else experienced this? Do you think she is just being a typical bad 5 year old and needs disicpline or can she help it??? I AM SO CONFUSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP

After many nights and hours reading and searching I have purchased the following multi vitamin for my 5 year old to take along with her natural calm. Can someone check them out and give me some input. You all have some more information and experience than I. I would hate to give her something that might make her tics worse. myrose replied to myrose's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Thanks calicat, I have unfortunately already ordered some. They are called vitasauras. I hope she likes them and I wish I knew someone who used them. I will keep your recommendation as next on my list if these do not work out for the fussy one! Thanks again -

I need a book like this right now.....I am going straight off now to get it! I will let you know when I am finished!

Just read on Consumers search reports
myrose replied to myrose's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
Sorry for the alarm....Maybe I am reading too much...just can't stop lately. I am up until 3am everynight reading, reading and reading. I am just at the point where i have learned SO MUCH that I was completely unaware of that I am afraid I feel like a fool and wonder where I have been for the past 40 years of my life! It just kind of frightened and shocked me when I read it. I will try to validate next time before I run away with it.....I apologize -
Hello Nan, I am waiting for my natural calm to get here. I ordered on line lastnight. I did the Natural calm instead of the kids calm for a few reasons but the mainly so I can take it with her. This may help her WANT to take it. It may even help me as well!!!! Anyhow please update me on how your daughter is doing...I am so curious to know if it will have any effect if any on the tics and mood issues. Also I think you are supposed to increase the amount until you have loose stool and then you know you have taken too much and then go back down slowly until the stool is regular again...and then this is your dosage that works best??? Maybe this is just for the magnesium supplemenmts alone? I will have to go back and read again.

(to say the least) I know Chermar (at least I think it was Chemar) mentioned one my last post. I thought I boookmarked the page but now I cannot find it. PLEASE HELP and thanks so much to all in advance for your help!

Hello all, I have been searching for a good all natural mutivitamin for my daughter. I came across some info on the consumer lab reports page and just thought I would WARN anyone just in case they are giving these vitamins to their children or...knew of someone who was. They are called Lil Gummy Vites. They EXCEEDED the safe limit for LEAD and also they were found low in tolate. I can't even imagine to why there is lead or would be lead in ANY vitamin but apparently there is but supposely in SAFE limits???? I can't believe what I have been finding out through reading......I never knew any of this stuff. What is the matter with these companies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is the link if anyone is interested: http://www.consumersearch.com/www/family/m...ins/review.html

nan, The same exact thing happened to me tonight as well. We are also on Nasonex. My daughter is 5, she only attends pre-k Monday-Thursday so she had no school today. We started out the day calm. I cleaned the house, she helped me a bit and earned a dollar. We then made some bunny rabbits out of felt paper etc. Her friend who is 7 was dropped off at 2:30 (I babysit her) they played together until about 6:00 when her Dad arrived to pick her up. We then ate supper (pizza) and after that she danced on the coffee table entertaining my husband and I. She was imitating american idol. This went on for a long period. She got herself pretty worked up and she was having a blast! We then watched a Christmas program from her school on a recorded Dvd. It was then that she sat next to me on the couch and started ticing away! Body jerks in the arms, legs, even a couple vocal. She then looked at me and said in these exact words "Mommy, I can't stop shaking" (She calls it shaking) I put the dvd on pause and gave her a twenty or so minute bath/soak in epsom salts. She then had a 1/2 tab of melatolin and some water. She was sleeping like a baby by the time I got out of the shower.....I love to watch her sleep lately. She seems such at peace with no ticing at all. Jusy like it used to be before this all started. I am not sure what caused this episode tonight...its the worst we have had in awhile. I will have to see how it goes tomorrow. But for now the epsom salt and the melatolin worked very well for her. Just wanted to share that there is someone else out there going through it all as well. Sometimes when I read or hear someone else is going through the same thing as we are.......it makes me feel a little better just knowing that I am not alone. I hope that I have done that for you tonight Nan. Please do get the epsom salts. This truly works and usually the day after the bath I have the calmest child in the world! I just also purchased the cream that is available through kirkmans.com. I do have the Natural Calm...not the kids calm. I liked the natural calm better after reading up on both of them. To tell you the truth I am taking it as well. This whole thing has stressed me to death with worry and overwhelming exhaustion from all that I have read and try to understand. It makes me feel so much better when I need to. I have not gave it to my daughter yet. Tomorrow may be the day I start. I like to take everything first just to see how it makes me feel before I give it to her. (Just something I always do) Goodnnight and I do hope that tomorrow is better for you and you daughter. Sicnerely, Wendy

Antibitiocs stopped and Tics came the day after
myrose replied to myrose's topic in Tourette Syndrome and Tics
She had a reaction to the first antibitic which was amoxicillin. They then switched her to a 3 day course of azithromax. She spit out the first dosage and then again on the second! I ended up putting it in applesause but had to call in for more to replace the two doses she spit out. Instead of just calling me in 2 doses, they just refilled the whole prescription. So i do have another 3 day supply. Should I try it?? This whole medicine thing is scary to me sometimes. I never feel right giving her anything .... Can you also comment on the kid calm? Thanks so much! I truly appreciate your reply -
Thinking of the kid calm I read about on the boards. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is....the form of it and also the experiences, differences (if any) they have seen while using it? Also how long before it kicks in (immediately)?

As most of you know, my daughters tics were gone while she was on her antibiotic. (For step throat)They came back the day after she stopped taking them. Was this just a coincidence? Can someone with some Pandas experience help here? When they stop the antibiotics...how long before the tics start back up...or do they???

Hello, The doctor you are speaking of is also our Doctor. We live in Orlando Florida. Is it the same? Metro West area? The office was planning a move our last appointment but they have not called me to tell me that they have moved yet. Our next appointment is in May. I like Dr.Davis as well but after we did all the initial tests that you mentioned....they were all normal. (Just to mention...they stuck my daughter just about as many times! I will never get this child to EVER get her blood taken again) She was so tramatized that by the time her MRI came due...they had to do it without the dye and without any sedation at all. Anyhow back on Davis....he also ended up stating it was a tic disorder...wanted to medicate if it caused her issues at school. Now we go back every 5 months or so to just update and to hear the same thing over again. I really would like some answers. Our insurance does not pay for his visits nor did it pay for ANY of the tests he ordered. We are into the whole thing at this time for almost 10 thousand. So please check with your insurance....ours only covered inpatient and not any of diagnostic testing. Also wanted to mention Dr. Davis started with a 20 min EEG, it came back abnormal....we then did the 24 hour one (had to spend the night there at the office) $5000 later...it came back normal and no one can explain why the first one was abnormal. My next step is with Dr. Murphy...maybe we could do a road trip down there. Search her name on these boards.....interesting. My daughter by the way started at age three as well. She is now 5. She probably started before this....alot of them start with toe crunching and adomen tensing and because of clothes and shoes...we as parents never see those tics. I noticed them and it was the eye blinking that set the alarm off for me. One more thing....my daughters blood work to check for the pandas came out normal but since that test I have found these boards (THANK GOD FOR THAT) and now know that it doesn't mean she does not have pandas. She was diagnosed with strep for the very first time the end of the week before last and was also on an antibiotic for the first time ever. The tics slowed and then pretty much dissapeared. We had a rejoicing over here that i was too afraid to enjoy. Needless to say they came back the day after the antibitoics stopped. I made a call into Dr.Davis yesterday and missed the nurse today when she returned my call. More confused than ever!!!!!!! if I can be of any help at all......please let me know...we may be neighbors!!!!

Hello Chemar! First of all ...God Bless you for what you have done for your son. You have one lucky little guy there! he is truly blessed. We tried to start Bonnies Supp tonight and it was not good. Too big to swallow and too hard to disguise the taste. There is just so many to take! Eventually we are supposed to be up to 10 day and thats just for the TS-Plus. Anyhow I am getting alot of great suggestions on how to disguise the taste and plan to try them all. I am writing to ask you about magnesium and calcium. I know you have alot of experience in these. If I eventually just do not win with Bonnies Supplements I was hoping to take it more slowly. In other words I know that magnesium plays a BIG role here. (Bigger than I think most people know) So I would like to maybe just try giving her extra magnesium to start out with. Trouble is....I know or at least think I know that there are 3 forms of it? Can you suggest which form is best in dealing with the tic issue. (Daughter is not diagnosed at this time) I am ordering the magnesium sulfate cream from kirkmans tonight as well. One more thing....is it best to also give calcium with the magnesium? Not sure why I think this. Sometimes I read so much I get lost and confused in it all. Maybe for absorption? If it helps any my daughter is 5 (will be six in September) and she is 40 pounds. Doesn't seem to be able to swallow pills and will not tolerate anything bad tasting! Thanks so much in advance for your advice/suggestions Chemar. Sincerely, Wendy

I have one! We only use it to make milkshakes (only thing that it actually did correcting for us) The egg salad I tried to make was a MESS! I will make her a milk shake and then a smoothie. Guess the smoothie for the morning and the shake for an after dinner treat. I won't mention the medicine either.....Keeping my fingers crossed! Thanks again!

Tami...she actually wanted to swallow them. She tried so hard!!!!!!! I myself have a hard time sometimes. She will keep trying to swallow them. In the meantime I will your suggestion tomorrow and also maybe some all natural ice-cream that another posted. Thank you so much for your reply!

Thank You! I am going to go out and buy some ice-cream tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Tried to start Bonnies Supp. tonight. I put them in juice, and then in yogurt (even added Bananas) she refused to take another bite. She is 5 and cannot swallow the pills at all so I have to somehow put them in food. She is eventually supposed to be up to 10 of these a day! YIKES how will I ever get her to take them??? Please help with ideas!!! And also what to expect after starting them.....as far as problems with her body adjusting to them. Thanks in advance and I sure do apologize for my last post....I have it back together now and I am going to keep fighting these tics. Sometimes I seem to just loose all my will when nothing I do seems to work. Still also waiting on a copy of the blood work the neurolgist did for the pandas check back in August.

My daughter finished her 3-day course of azithromaz on Sunday and today is the first time I saw a tic. I have NEVER seen a motor and vocal together at the same time.....today I did. I was starting to smile again, live again, breath again, not worry so much.....and BAM its over. I am so confused and so overwhelmed I just need to GO AWAY! She complained of them today as well......just what I needed to hear! Wants to know why the doctor doesn't make them stop. So sorry to rain on everyones parade...I really do not mean to upset anyone. I just needed to vent a bit between the tears. I did mention her conditon as well at the open house for the school she was to attend for kindergarden.....BIG MISTAKE.....I don't even want to get into that whole drama! I just did not want her to be punished for distrupting the class if she could not help it. I should have just kept my mouth shut. I enrolled her in a small private school today. Its much like the pre-school she attends now for pre-K. Just 15 kids per class, a teacher and a teachers aid. They accepted her there and we will miss it terribly. I could just never send her to a public school now.....just from the reaction of the teachers alone!!!!!!!!!!! I am to say the least DISGUSTED with the Florida school system. MY child is not disabled at all! Now all I have to do is get back on my feet here, stop the crying again, start Bonnies Supplements that have been sitting in the cabinet for weeks, and figure out how in the ###### I am going to pay for this school! You know I wish I could just take this away from her and put it in me somehow. I was so sick of going out to places and not have other kids stare at her when she was having a tic episode.............BUT TO HAVE THE ADULTS and OTHER parents stare at her like she was some retarded idiot. For these things to go away a bit and then come back is cruel. This whole thing is just so much to handle. Thanks to all of you again for all your advice. I think I may just go to bed and put this to rest for just a few hours. Its going to be a long road ahead again...

I have figured it out.....No need to answer this post. Thanks...Wendy

Yes Caryn she was tic free until just a few days ago when I noticed a foot stomp (not sure if you read that post) It was only the one time. The way I understand it she was still getting the antibiotic...just not at the strength she should have. She was diagnosed with strep last Wednesday and this is why she was put on the amoxicillin to begin with. She had no symptoms of the strep, no sore throat, no white dots on the inside of mouth or nothing. Her appetite never slowed down, nor did she! Her diet is pretty much a small variety and her favorite food is broccoli and aspharagus. We have always ate organic and the preservatives, additives, sweets, dyes etc...were never really in her diet to begin with. She doesn't prefer the sweets and junk maybe because we never offered them to her as she was growing up. She does though eat them at the occassional birthday party and holidays of course. She also hates soda and won't go near any kind of potato chip to speal of. Her drink by choice is water and for snacks she goes after carrot sticks and such. Thank GOD she was like this on her own so I didn't have to stop letting her have some of the foods you love. Other than the foot stomping I noticed the other day, she is again tic free. Strange huh? I keep waiting though and I am prepared to start Bonnies vitamins if and when they come back on strong as they were before. Thank you so much for your thoughts and reply...I LOVE these boards and have come to the conclusion that I could NOT LIVE without them! Have a wonderful weekend...Sincerely, Wendy

I believe PM stands for personal message?? I had two of them that just pooped up. How do I respond to them? I am usually pretty good at figuring this stuff out but it may take a bit and I do not want the ones who sent them to think I am not answering.
