  1. when someone with tics responds well to benedryl does this mean they are high in histamine or low in histamine. It is my understanding that it blocks histamine? so someone who responds well would be considered high histamine??? Thanks
  2. Can anyone report anything on this??? Bad or good? I have a sample I want to try while we wait for our intrkid to get here. Thanks
  3. I forgot to ask about my daughters teeth...we have been using Toms all natural toothpaste for quite some time now. Also stopped drinking fluroide water as well. I noticed the other day that my daughters teeth look funny. Its almost like they have a transparency over them or something. Also some brown down by the gums. She is 5, we visit the dentist every six months. He cleans and polishes them and then does an exam. We have never had any problems with anything with her teeth. She is due for her next appointment at the end of May but her teeth are bothering me enough to call tomorrow and go sooner if we can. Maybe this is the way teeth look when they are maybe ready to start coming out??? Can anyone tell me if they have seen at all what I have described? Could it be lack of fluroide or a deficientcy of some kind? Just another thing to worry about.....I am growing so weary lately
  4. I am back to normal tonight with my reading/research. I posted earlier on how after stopping the intrakid my daughters tics icreased like never before and they were almost all new ones. I could not figure out why this happened aside from her being in the pool almost daily again. Then while sitting here tonight and racking my brain, looking back through our journal, something hit me. I am not sure if or why this would cause these new tics and the increased severity but my daughter gets melatonin everynight before bed (always has) 1.5mg I was just about to run out so I went online to order as I usually do and I happened to be on the kirklands website and saw that they also carried melatonin. They also have a melatonin tab with added magnesium of 100mg. I thought this would be great! The intrakid has 60mg and goin by her weight and age the total of 160mg was exactly what was recommended for her. I know that some of you use more but this is just the recommended dose. We were not taking the intrakid after the big spill anyhow. I started my daughter on this melatonin/mag combo the day we received it. Just to add that there was only 1mg of melatonin in these and it did not do anything for my daughter at all as far as helping her fall to sleep. Her usual dose works wonders though (1.5mg) I found it weird actually because the magnesium is supposed to relax as well. Anyhow it was the day after starting these that the weird increase started. It was the only supplement being taken aside from a few enzymes and probiotics. How could this cause an increase in tics not to mention they are also all new. I am completely puzzled on this and did NOT give her her melatonin/mag combo tonight. If she is different tomorrow then I will know it was the pills from kirkmans. Anyone have any ideas???? Thanks so much everyone
  5. Hello Andy. My daughter had a twenty minute sleep deprived EEG. It came back abnormal. (at least that is what the neurologist said) He ordered another one. This time a 24 hour one. We spent the night there. $5,000 out of pocket! later he said that the second one was normal. He did notice that she was like an acrobat while she slept so suggested giving her melatolin before bed everynight. The melatolnin works great for her but I felt like we did not come away with any answers.....just empty bank accounts. MRI was then ordered by the same neuroligist.
  6. Well everyone I have missed you all so much and the board! I got a few times over the past few weeks but to just peek. We had an unexpected death in the family. Following that was a visit made to us by my brother, his wife and their triplets. My Mom and Step Dad came along as well. Its been a long few weeks to say the least! I also started working last Monday. I have not worked since I learned I was pregnant with my daughter. This was almost 7 years ago! Its just a few hours a day while my daughter attends pre-K and I still get to volunteer at her school weekly in which I enjoy. I needed something to take my mind away from all this stuff. It just never leaves! The wondering, the guessing etc. I also want to update on the intrakid..... The only other thing my daughter was taking was 1/2 a melatolin pill before bed (1.5mg) (I was and still am taking the intramax) The hardest part about the intrakid and intramax for us is how and when you take it. You are supposed to take it and not eat for about 30 minutes (this is hard on my daughter, when she wakes up, she eats right away. And the afternoon dose for her is the same....she takes it when she gets home around 2pm but at this time she is ready for a snack as well. I know its only 30 minutes and I have used different things to take her mind off from eating but it gets hard. For me...well ITS TERRIBLE. It says not to have coffee within TWO hours of taking this! I cannot do this. The first thing I need when I wake is COFFEE! And its the first thing I have when I return home in which is the time my second dose is due. I called to ask why and was explained the reason. It would be heard for me to get that all down here so I will say that they told me that the intramax would magnify and multiply the coffee. Sort of like having 6 cups of coffee instead of my two cups. I wait but only 1/2 hour and then I just have my coffee. Wanted to see how it went. The first thing I can say about intramax for both my daughter and I is that it really DOES cleanse!!!!!!! I do not want to scare you or get really graphic and gross anyone out so let me just say that I have a regular bowel movement everyday like clock work in the morning. I have done this my whole life since I can remember. After about two days or so on the intramax I still made my daily trip to the bathroom but BOY was I being emptied out! LMAO No change other than LOTS!!!! In other words I did have the runs or anything. It was the same as always but 10 times the amount. My urine was also very yellow at first and then lightened up but remained yellow. I was told that this was detoxification from both ends! My daughter experienced the same exact thing. So as far as its detox claims.....IT WORKS THERE! without a doubt. By the second week my energy was up. I in no means mean to say that I was running marathons but usually around 2:30 or so I always get tired and am constantly searching for that second wind around that time everyday. I did not get as tired while on intramax. I still felt that down but I was able to just get up and forget about it. I really do like this vitamin for myself. I ordered mine after I ordered my daughters so I started mine after she started hers. So I still have some left. After I am done with it (another week) I am going to stop taking it to see if I notice a HUGE difference. I will post more then. As far as my daughter....her tics were not effected with this. In other words there was never an increase while on intrakid. Her mood seemed better but then on some days it seemed the same. So I was puzzled by this. I was also told to give it at least a few months to see the most benefit but would see a benefit immediately if it were helping a severe deficiency of some sort. My daughter LOVES this stuff and that is another thing I was amazed at. She begs for more! We have tried so many things just to have her not even go near them because of taste or smell. She continued to have a mild leg tic that was and is only noticable when she walks. Her few vocals (if they were indeed vocal tics) stopped. As I stated already she seemed to have an overall better mood but nothing to shout about. I took her vitamin out and set it on the counter the day our company arrived. She decided to pour her capful herself while I ran out to catch the mail lady. Well......the whole bottle went over and what a mess! That was over a week ago. Since this there has been an increase or should I say an EXPLOSION of tics. Not the usual ones she has but all kinds. She is winking her eyes, nodding her head, twitching her arm and of course her foot stomp is going strong. I have never seen these kinds of tics in her. I thought at first that we did have a lot going on over the past few weeks etc. So I waited to see if things would go back to normal and she is still ticcing away today. I planned on ordering more intrakid but I have a sample of the super nu thera that I was planning on trying before getting another bottle of intrakid. I was always curious on these super nu thera's. So now here is my confusion and the reason why I have not posted an update on the intrakid. She has also been swimming everyday since we stopped the intrakid. So it could be the lack of the intrakid or the pool? I just do not know and cannot figure this out for the life of me. Our pool is salt chlorinated, not straight chlorine like most. She also has a chlorine filter in her bath and we just installed a whole house carbon filter as well. I am stumped on this new increase. If anyone can help...please due. It makes sense that stopping the intrakid brought this on some how but it does not make any sense as to why she was not ticcing like this ver before. (even before the intrakid) I may order the intrakid tonight and skip the super nu thera....what are all your opinions??? Oh, and yes she gets an epsom salts bath everynight. And I am just starting the clay baths as well. Waiting on that to arrrive. So sorry this is so LONG.....Not even sure if I covered everything....... It is though...good to be back!!!!!!!!!! I always feel better when I am typing or reading on here.
  7. Intrakid here is a link: http://www.druckerlabs.com/intraKID.html We have had success with this. It allows not to give anything else and takes the guessing out of supplements, priobioics and enzymes. The only other thing I give is melatolin before bed. My daughter cannot swallow pills and has refused and liquid supplement or vitamin I have tried to give her, but she LOVES this! You can get the trial bottles as well for a test.
  8. Anyone ever heard of this before????? Help me with this if you can A word of caution --- Manganese supplements tend to aggravate Tourette's Syndrome, and can also worsen the symptoms of OCD. Trichotillomania has been associated with OCD and undermethylation. If you can confirm the presence of undermethylation, the patient should benefit from (1) aggressive doses of l-methionine, calcium, magnesium, along with augmenting nutrients zinc, B-6, Inositol, Vitamin A & C and (2) strict avoidance of folic acid, choline, DMAE, and copper supplements Link: http://www.latitudes.org/forums/index.php?...ew_post&f=1
  9. CAUTIONS Supplemental forms of IP-6 have been found to interfere with the body's absorption of minerals. Most experts caution that before deciding to pop an IP-6 supplement, you should first try to incorporate IP-6-rich foods to your diet, which will not significantly interfere with mineral absorption. If you do decide to supplement, do not take IP-6 within one hour of meals. <a href="http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0NAH/is_2_29/ai_53929992">FindArticles - IP-6: this potent antioxidant can help your body fend off cancer and heart disease - inositol hexaphosphate</a> <cite>Natural Health, March, 1999, by Angela Pirisi</cite>
  10. My family is visiting us right now, its been a LONG LONG day at Disney and I can barely keep my eyes open but I just wanted to stop in quick to say that I did alot of reading over the past few months or so and I could have sworn that I read something about milk/dairy allergy and leg pain....give it a google search, if I get back on here tomorrow I will see if I can find what I am almost positive I read.... Hang in there...its devasating...but everyone here is going through the same thing and everyone works together to help everyone else's child. Please replace the clondine for melatolin!!!!!!!! AFTER taking it they are asleep within 1/2 hour and sleep soundly till morning. Also has a ton of other benefits as well and the best part is that its NATURAL!!
  11. Chemar...I read about what they do and can understand. But the question I had was is there a difference between the brands? I ordered some chewables of both the digestive enzymes and a probiotic to go along but one of the posters mentioned her brand dealt with more food issues? That is where my confusion comes in. Thanks so much for your help....I truly appreciate your responses!
  12. P.MOM...That is our next step. What do the ents do to check? Xrays? Thanks Also if anyone can suggest a good one in Florida please do! Its hard to find good and kid-friendly docs for me.
  13. She eye blinked for a short bit when this all started Dec 06, and then the face thing (like trying to push the hair out of your face) They both were very short and never came back. The body jerk and foot stomp (or whatver you call it) came along a short time afterwards and it never changed. When she started the Nasonex the body jerk stopped. (Her body jerk is like when someone scares you and you jump) It came back a short while after stoping the nasonex. Then when we started it back up ahortly after that, it had no effect on the body jerk. I was just curious if there would be an explanation to it or if it was even connected to begin with. FYI--- my daughters tics never change. Either they are here or not. When they are its always the body jerk and foot stomp thing. The foot stomp thing is only when she is walking though. I hope they both get better soon!!!!!!!!! As if they have not enough going on!
  14. I called the office when the nightmares began (she was waking up 2 or 3 times a night) wouldn't go to sleep unless I was holding her hand. It was awful! Anyhow when I called the office to inquire I talked to the nurse not the neurologist. She informed me then that it was a side effect of the clonidine. She said it was rare but happens. She did not instruct me to report anything to anyone. Should I have??? She was on the medicine for a few months or I think. Then it all happened out of the blue. Never again.....
  15. My daughter was on on Nasonex a bit back and the same day I installed a Hepa filter in her room. We were tic free for quite a bit there (Sure some of you remember) Tics came back afterwards and when she was prescribed Nasonex for the 2nd time it did not have any effect on her tics? Do you think it was the Nasonex to begin with that first time? Wonder why it didn't have the same effect that 2nd times we tried it. The hepa filter was still in place the secind time around also. Stumped on this.....Her nose is plugged again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and now I am afraid to use Nasonex..... NOTHING works with her nose anymore, its becoming chronic. Time for ENT maybe???? Only thing that works is Afrin and we all know how bad and addciting that is! I won't even buy it anymore! Its so hard to see her like this. She can not go to sleep when its plugged. I have tried cold air vapor, steam vapor, little noses, saline, head elevated, vix on feet and under her nose. The list goes on and on. Every over the counter medicine never worked! Even the samples from the doctor never touched it. Its going to be a long week I guess.....
  16. what is the difference (if any) between the many brands of digestive enzymes and the probiotics??? Do they fairly all work basically the same and for the same foods? I have been reading on many but am confused as always.....
  17. Abilify????? I was told by our neurologist (when he was trying to PUSH medication) that this Abilify has a side effect of Jerking muscle movements. Be careful with this......PLEASE watch out for dehydration as well especially so in the little ones. When I put my daughter on Clonidine in the beginning when this all started (and before I knew NOTHING of medication) I took a tab to see how it made me feel. She was only taking 1/2 a tab so I took the whole tab. I felt like a zombie! It was terrible. I can't believe I let her feel like that just because of a few tics that actaully bothered ME more than her most times. Then the nightmares started for her (side effect) it was a rare one but YES it was one. I read up on the medicine and the one they wanted to switch her to. Lastly by the GRACE of GOD I found this PLACE! and educated myself on tics and medication. RUDE AWAKENING!!!!!!!!!!!! I will NEVER regret failing sometimes at doing the diet thing or not being able to figure what triggers her when it hits hard.... Alot of times I still cry and cry hard.....this is draining the emotions right out of me. BUT I will ALWAYS REGRET that day I put her on that medicine. thank you to all of you here who showed me a different path that I can feel good about.
  18. Is this all natural or just another presrciption medicine like clonidine??? Thanks in advance I think I would like to look into this unless it is medication......never going there again...not after what I have learned....
  19. Welcome Heather....its a long road but everyone on this board makes it easier.. If you have any small miracles with your son after trying them...please pass on. Glad to meet you!
  20. Sorry to start a new one on the same thing but I wanted to make sure I got through to as many as possible. I think we should all pull together and write Jenny. This is viewed to me as an opportunity to get some research done. If we can get enough attention via Jenny...who knows. What are we waiting for???? I am going there now. I spend enough time on this computer everynight! 15 minutes won't take away from all the reading I am doing. I may THANK GOD one day for doing this. PLEASE JOIN ME!
  21. All set Chemar...Think I got it right...
  22. OOPS! Didn't know that I will do it now. I just have to find it and then figure out how to get it into the post....Thanks for calling this to my attention for future posts....
  23. My daughter always seems to have bruises up and down her calf areas. She does have a rock climber and things get pretty ruff when she has a group over but it just seems or should I say that it sort of hit me that she seems to always have these. I thought I read somewhere of a deficiency that caused easy bruising...was it magnesium??? I just can not remember. Curious to know about the brusing though from some others on here....
  24. Thanks somuch for the info but I am afraid I already placed my order. I have wrote down the ones you suggested though. If the ones I ordered do not do it then i will try thoses next. Thanks so much for the info...have a wonderful weekend
  25. I feel I found the perfect vitamin for us. (Intrakid) Now I have just ordered a digestive enzyme and probiotic that I also feel was worth the sleepness nights.... My problem is that my daughter cannot swallow pills and if something does not taste good to her....well I am sure you know where I am going here... Anyhow for those looking for the two products in a childrens chewable here you go (also plant sourced!) http://naturalwellness.com/catalog/digesti...nzymes-kids.php (Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the KIDS TOTAL DIGESTION TWIN PACK) Its 2 bottles of the probiotics and 2 bottles of the digestive enzymes) Also got some natural shampoo, the one we have now makes TOO many tangles. Maybe this one will work. If anyone takes a look at the page...let me know what you think.
