  1. Could someone tell me what type of doctor would be willing to do the tests I would like to get done on my son for his tics and ADHD. I've heard enviromental doctors mentioned, and alternative doctors mentioned, but I guess I'm clueless how to get started. Basically I want to test him for everything, heavy metals, yeast, (I believe my allergy doctor will do this), Pyroluria, amino acid/vitamin deficiencies. My doctor in Houston is chelating him for mercury and iron with Chlorella, which has amino acids in it, but I'm not totally sure my child needs to be chelated. Supposedly the doctor came to this conclusion by having my son hold these metals in his hand, and my son showed a "weakness", to them. I don't mind chelation, but we didn't get a hair analysis done to see if he needed it or not. Anyway, I'd love to know who to go to, and how to actually get started on all this stuff. Thanks.
  2. Dear Airbucket, You mentioned gastric problems, ulcers, ets. Those raised a red flag in my mind. I've read of people having an allergy to gluten, which causes many gastrointestinal problems. I would think about this possibility too.
  3. He's an MD, Specialties: Allergy, Chelation, Environmental Medicine, Family Practice, Homeopathy,Preventive Medicine, Autism; Biological Medicine; Neuraltherapy; Oxidation Therapy; Hydrogen Peroxide & Ozone Therapy; Prolotherapy Certifications: ABICT Basic Diagnostic Techniques: Ecologic Oriented History, Serial Endpoint Titration, Sublingual P/N, Intradermal P/N (D): Diet Elimination, Rotary Diversified Diet (I): Autonomic Response Therapy Basic Treatment Techniques: ©: Chemical Antigens: Based on Neutralization: Sublingual Avoidance Preservative Free Antigen Therapy Rotary Diversified Diet Chelation he's using is Burbur drops, 6 drops, 4x a day, every other day. And Chlorella, plus vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, by "Nature's Balance," on the opposite days. The clonidine is only, .1mg. a day, very low, but he still said not to give him the thyroid or the clonidine anymore. I gave him 1/4 pill at bedtime, because it helps him sleep. I feel like I'm shooting blindly in the dark sometimes. Don't know what to do to really help my son. Maybe I'll call tomorrow and ask some more questions. Basically ART is the same as Kinesiology. Some of it felt a bit wacky, what the doctor was doing. He should have explained it more. Basically, the shot was a peptide "cocktail" so to speak. Supposed to be all natural, and they say there has never been any adverse reactions.
  4. Went to a doctor in Houston today, Dr. Battle, who did a body terrain test on our son. They took blood, saliva, and urine after he fasted for 12 hours. The computer gave a profile of his samples, and based on the results recommended SAM, or sequenced amino acid modulators, which is a shot he got, and will get one a week for the next three weeks. Then he should get drops under his tongue. He also recommended chelation with drops and vitamins which he rotates taking every other day. He figured out he needed chelation, after asking me a few questions about myself, as his mother, and about my son, and after holding various things in his hand while assessing his autonomic nervous system's response to those items. He also recommended we stop giving him his clonidine and thyroid medicine, which is what I have the most problem with. I guess he figures the thyroid will adjust itself during the treatment? Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had ever heard of this, or tried it, as I am naturally feeling worried if we are going down the right road. Also, it is very expensive. Thanks.
  5. How much magnesium taurate should I give my 10 year old for his vocal tic? This has proably been answered somewhere before, so I'm sorry. Thanks for all your help!
  6. Sorry about that, my post wasn't showing up at first! I guess this has happened to everyone, at least once!
  7. I was wondering what others have used for a constant throat clearing tic. I'm a tad worried his vocal cords might become sore. He says he "feels" there is something in his throat. He'll clear it real loudly, and say, "there" as if he's gotten something out of it, but will go right back to clearing his throat again. I need to check symptoms of asthma, and I'm also wondering if it's anything enviromental, or an allergy, although we've had him tested. Also does anyone know, or understand, the connection between tics and OCD? I've had OCD in my past and it feels to me that they are very similiar, with the release of anxiety you feel when you do what your brain is telling you to do. I suffered for many years, not knowing about 5-HTP and inisitol, etc. and I'm wondering if tryptophan, or 5-HTP will help his tics? Thanks for sharing.
  8. I'm not a doctor, but it sure sounds like symptoms of OCD. If these thoughts are at the level of causing discomfort, I would definitely make an appointment with a phsychiatrist. "I have never been able to spell that word correctly!" Anyway, in the past my problem was intrusive thoughts, and my compulsion was to continually ask God to forgive me for those thoughts! Worrying about the thoughts, and trying to "get them out of your mind" doesn't work. It makes them more prevalent. I wouldn't want you going through many years of this like I did! Some people are having success with alternative therapies, some with medications, some with prayer and letting go of anxieties, or a combination. Whatever works for you to have a happy, joyfilled life! Best Wishes.
  9. Dear Desperate, I totally understand the feeling of unwanted thoughts, having had them myself in the past. I felt intense shame and that I was a horrible person because I was thinking those thoughts on a constant basis. In reality the thought came into my mind, unbidden, and it caused me so much anxiety and loathing that I tried my best from then on to banish it from my mind, which of course, like Carolyn said, made it stick in my thoughts even more, to the point that is all I thought about all day long. I am a Christian too and so I was on a continual loop of, have the unwanted thought, ask forgiveness for the thought, have the unwanted thought, ask forgiveness for the thought, over and over again, all day long! My obsession was the bad thought, my compulsion, was asking forgiveness, or, "mentally washing my hands," so to speak, to cleanse myself. I want to tell you what the thought was, because it holds no power over me today, and it was pretty bad. That I would sexually molest a child. I began avoiding my nieces and nephews because my emotions of fear and anxiety were all tied up together and I became afraid I would do what those thoughts were saying. The next thought I had was to blaspheme the Holy Ghost, because it says every sin can be forgiven, except the sin of blaspheming the Holy Ghost. I finally figured out years later my mind was latching onto the two things, that in my mind were the worst things a person could possibly do, and because of my fear and loathing of them, making them giants in my mind! I only tried a few medicines for a short time, and I credit God and prayer with my freedom today! There were other things involved, like being a member of a strict church, and having lots of rules to follow, to supposedly, make me holy. When I started questioning those rules and God began setting me free from legalism, (trying to make myself worthy in his eyes,) that further helped my healing! I will not rule out meds, or alternative treatments, or whatever works, but I believe if you give the anxiety of having these thoughts over to God, you will be much speeded on your recovery! You are in my prayers, Kalinda
  10. My son has been taking only 0.1mg. of Clonidine since he started his tics and ADHD two years ago. I think the Clonidine mostly helps the ADHD. But strangely, I noticed after he took the Clonidine, he would seem to have a small throat clearing episode, leading me to think he's having a reaction to the Clonidine. This happens almost every time! Anyway, he's been getting magnesium for about a year in the form of magnesium oxide, 250mg. a day, but we recently started him on magnesium citrate instead, the same amount, because we learned that it's more quickly absorbed. The problem is, since starting the magnesium citrate, his throat clearing tics that had gone away since April, have come back even stronger with head thrusting when he clears his throat. It might just be a reoccurance of the same tic, but I was wondering if magnesium that's supposed to help tics, can make you tic harder. Or if because it's so quickly absorbed, it's making the Clonidine stronger, somehow. Other changes are, we've started letting him play his Nintendo DS again, and letting him have pizza on the weekends, which he has food sensitivities to, and drinking Capri Suns that have no artificial colors or flavors, but have high fructose corn syrup. (I know, I loosened the reins somewhat, and he might be paying for it!) Anyway, if anyone knows if magnesium could actually cause a worsening of tics, or the combination of the magnesium and Clonidine could be a bad combination, please let me know. Thanks.
